Fictional suspense books usually make the reader uncertain about the outcome. Suspense is the state of waiting for something to happen. In the best suspense books, suspense is the anticipation of the outcome of a plot or of the solution to an uncertainty, particularly as it affects a character for whom the reader has sympathy.
