  • The Ultimate Guide to Uncovering Zombie Book with Smart Scientists

If you’re tired of the same old apocalypse story where brute force saves the day, you’re ready for a zombie book with smart scientists. This genre moves beyond muscle and mayhem, focusing on the power of intellect and knowledge in a world gone mad. It’s a fresh take on the undead, where the real heroes wear lab coats, not military fatigues.

A zombie book with smart scientists Living Legacy by R WK Clark

A Plausible and Terrifying Plague 🦠

Forget the mysterious, unstoppable plague of most zombie fiction. A great zombie book with smart scientists anchors its horror in a plausible, terrifying reality. In R.W.K. Clark’s Living Legacy, the apocalypse begins not with a supernatural event, but with a chilling consequence of human negligence: contaminated water. This novel explores a scientifically grounded scenario where a real-world pathogen spreads silently, causing horrifying neurological and physical changes. The infected are not brainless drones; they retain a twisted semblance of their former selves, making them even more insidious. This twist pulls back the curtain on a nightmare that feels all too real, adding a layer of depth and thought-provoking horror to the story.

The Science Behind the Scream: A Plausible Apocalypse

Living Legacy poses a terrifying question: what if a real-world pathogen could turn humanity into monsters? Instead of a magical virus, the novel explores a plague transmitted through contaminated water. This isn’t just fiction; it’s a chilling “what if” that makes the horror feel all too real.

Survival of the Smartest: An Unlikely Partnership 🧠

When society crumbles, a new kind of hero emerges. In Living Legacy, we meet Alicia, a brilliant biology major, and Jace, a chemistry whiz. Their combined knowledge is their greatest weapon. Their survival isn’t about fighting the hordes; it’s about understanding them. This zombie book with smart scientists details a thrilling race against extinction where their complementary skills are essential. Alicia’s expertise in biological organisms helps her identify the pathogen, while Jace’s knowledge of chemistry allows him to develop and test potential cures in a desperate, makeshift lab. This intellectual teamwork is the driving force of the story, proving that collaboration and a shared purpose can be the ultimate tools for survival.

Their bond isn’t just emotional; it’s a shared purpose that provides them with the emotional resilience to keep going.

Beyond the Horde: Deeper Themes and Emotional Stakes ❤️

A compelling zombie book with smart scientists offers more than just jump scares. It uses the apocalyptic setting to explore profound themes. A New Era of Apocalypse Fiction 📖

The zombie genre has evolved from the mindless hordes of Night of the Living Dead to more complex infected in modern classics like 28 Days Later. A zombie book with smart scientists is the next step in this evolution, shifting the narrative from a “brain vs. brawn” showdown to a more intellectual and strategic “brain vs. brain” battle. This subgenre appeals to readers who crave a more nuanced and thoughtful take on the end of the world.

    Philosophical and Existential Questions 🤔

A zombie book with smart scientists provides a unique platform for exploring profound philosophical and existential questions. Through Alicia and Jace’s scientific lens, the story challenges traditional beliefs about life and death. The very nature of the infected—retaining a semblance of their former selves—forces the protagonists to grapple with the definition of consciousness and humanity. This intellectual weight appeals to a thoughtful audience looking for a story that lingers long after the final page.

The Role of Scavenged Technology ⚙️

Beyond the confines of a sterile lab, Alicia and Jace must rely on their ingenuity. A great zombie book with smart scientists showcases how repurposed technology and innovation are crucial for survival. This focus on resourcefulness highlights the protagonists’ intelligence in a tangible way, making the story more realistic and engaging.

The Pacing of Intellectual Tension ✍️

Unlike an action-heavy narrative driven by constant battles, a zombie book with smart scientists creates tension through intellectual challenges. The pacing isn’t about running from the horde; it’s about the race against time in the lab. The suspense comes from a failed experiment, a promising hypothesis that leads to a dead end, or the agonizing wait for a test result. This focus on scientific discovery and the methodical process of research offers a unique form of storytelling.

The Psychological Horror of the Familiar 😨

A great zombie book with smart scientists finds new ways to terrify its audience. In Living Legacy, the horror isn’t just in the shambling hordes, but in the psychological torment of confronting the familiar. The infected aren’t mindless; they retain a twisted reflection of who they once were. This creates a unique agony for the protagonists, forcing them to grapple with grief and moral ambiguity as they face loved ones and acquaintances. Is it an act of mercy to destroy a person who is, in some small way, still there? This specific type of terror elevates the narrative beyond simple monster-fighting and gives the characters a deep emotional and ethical burden.

The Global and Political Fallout 🌎

While the personal story of Alicia and Jace is compelling, the true scale of the horror comes from its global context. A detailed zombie book with smart scientists will explore the broader political and geopolitical fallout of the apocalypse. This adds a macro layer to the story, speculating on the rise of new power and the collapse. This provides a more realistic and terrifying backdrop for the protagonists’ journey.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

The Role of Hope and Legacy 🕊️

Beyond personal survival, Alicia and Jace’s struggle is fueled by a powerful theme of hope and legacy. Their quest to find a cure isn’t just about saving themselves; it’s about preserving the intellectual and emotional history of humanity. They are fighting to honor the world that was, remembering lost loved ones and the great achievements of a bygone era. Their scientific efforts are a tangible statement that a future is still possible.

This theme of a new beginning adds a powerful, uplifting element to the dark, apocalyptic setting, making the story more meaningful for the reader. It’s a reminder that even in the bleakest of times, what is worth saving is not just life, but the very essence of what it means to be human.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

What Makes Ariana a Compelling Hero?

Ariana isn’t a pre-made action hero. Instead, she is a reflection of ordinary people thrown into extraordinary circumstances. Her heroism isn’t defined by muscle or combat training, but by her resourcefulness, quick thinking, and a fierce will to protect others. As the chaos erupts, we witness her courage emerge not from a place of fearlessness, but from the necessity of a terrifying situation. Readers can connect with her struggle, watching as she finds the inner strength to confront a nightmare and evolve into the leader her small band of survivors desperately needs.

    Her Perspective Shapes the Story

With Ariana at the helm, the story gains a vital new perspective. Unlike a narrative focused solely on the overall crisis, her point of view allows us to experience the claustrophobic dread and moral dilemmas on a deeply personal level. We don’t just see the zombie horde; we feel the weight of every difficult decision, the anguish of every loss, and the flicker of hope in the face of despair. This shift transforms the novel from a pure action thriller into a powerful tale of human endurance and the psychological toll of survival.

    The Emotional Toll of Leadership

Ariana’s biggest challenge isn’t just outsmarting the cunning undead led by the captain; it’s shouldering the emotional burden of leadership. She must navigate the complex dynamics of a desperate group, make life-or-death choices, and inspire hope when all seems lost. This psychological battle against a familiar foe adds a gripping layer to the narrative. Her fight isn’t just for her own survival, but for the safety of those who depend on her. This element of sacrifice and responsibility gives Dead in the Water a powerful, human core that resonates long after the last page.

Unveiling the Mastermind: The Captain’s Cunning and Control

The most terrifying twist in Dead in the Water isn’t just a new breed of undead; it’s the shocking revelation that they are controlled by the ship’s own captain. This adds a layer of malice and premeditated evil that transcends typical zombie stories. The novel explores the captain’s character not merely as a monster, but as a cunning villain with a sinister purpose.

    The Psychology of Control 🧠

What drives a man to orchestrate such a nightmare? The story delves into the chilling idea that his power over the undead may not just be a result of the virus, but a horrifying new outlet for a pre-existing madness. The intelligence and strategic mind once used to navigate the high seas are now turned against his passengers. This shift from protector to predator turns the familiar setting into a deeply unsettling, personal battlefield.

    A Familiar Foe

The captain is a figure of authority and trust, making his betrayal a more personal and terrifying element for the survivors, especially Ariana. This betrayal transforms the conflict from a battle against mindless hordes into a cat-and-mouse game against a devious, calculating mind who knows the ship’s every secret. The fight becomes a desperate struggle to outthink an antagonist who has every advantage.

    The Stakes of Betrayal

Discussing the villain’s motives deepens the suspense and raises the stakes. The survivors aren’t simply trying to outrun a plague; they are trying to outthink a familiar foe playing a twisted game with them. This psychological battle is what elevates Dead in the Water beyond a simple survival story, giving it a powerful, human core that resonates long after the last page.

The Setting as a Character: A Floating Labyrinth of Fear

The cruise ship in Dead in the Water is far more than a simple backdrop; it’s a living, breathing labyrinth 🚢 that becomes a character in its own right, actively working against the survivors. This new section delves into how the once-luxurious vessel is transformed into a claustrophobic and terrifying arena.

    The Anatomy of Terror

Every familiar space on the ship presents a new, horrifying challenge. The wide-open decks, once a place of leisure, become exposed death traps where there’s nowhere to hide from the intelligent horde. The tight, winding corridors create inescapable ambushes, while the vast ballroom and dining halls are transformed into impossible gauntlets that survivors must cross to reach safety. The struggle becomes an intimate battle against the very architecture of their prison.

    A Dwindling Sanctuary

What was meant to be a floating sanctuary quickly devolves into a decaying prison. The ship’s internal systems, from the power grid and ventilation to the crucial communication lines, become a new front in the battle. The fight isn’t just against the undead; it’s also against the deteriorating infrastructure of their supposed safe haven. As these systems fail, the desperation mounts, highlighting the ship’s role in a race against time.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Strategic Use of Environment

Survival hinges on the survivors’ ability to use the ship’s resources and layout in creative ways. The professional kitchen becomes an impromptu armory 🔪, the fortified engine room a last-stand fortress, and the lifeboats a desperate, final gamble. This strategic use of the environment showcases the characters’ resourcefulness and makes the setting a key player in the story’s thrilling, tactical battles, elevating the zombie apocalypse trapped on a cruise ship to a new level of suspense.

R.W.K. Clark’s Unique Approach to the Supernatural 👻

While Dead in the Water presents a thrilling take on a zombie apocalypse trapped on a cruise ship, it’s part of a larger pattern in R.W.K. Clark’s fiction. This section highlights how the novel fits into the author’s broader body of work and showcases his distinct storytelling style.

    Science vs. Magic

R.W.K. Clark’s narratives often challenge readers to consider the consequences of venturing into the unknown. In Dead in the Water, the affliction seems to have a scientific origin, blurring the line between a viral outbreak and a supernatural plague. In contrast, other novels, like Lucifer’s Angel, focus more on the occult and demonic forces. This comparison highlights R.W.K. Clark’s versatility and his ability to blend different genres to explore the unsettling consequences of a world where the impossible becomes tangible.

    The Nature of the Monster

The mindless shambling zombie is a classic horror trope, but R.W.K. Clark consistently subverts it. The zombies in Dead in the Water are not mindless; they are strategic and controlled. This mirrors his approach in other works, like Zombie Diaries, where the protagonist Mavis is a “humanized monster” with a conscience. This nuanced take on horror creatures emphasizes R.W.K. Clark’s interest in the moral dilemmas and internal conflicts that arise when the line between human and monster is blurred.

    Genre-Bending Narratives 📖

R.W.K. Clark excels at incorporating elements from various genres to create unique and compelling stories. Dead in the Water blends zombie horror with sci-fi and thriller elements, while a novel like Overtaken combines a sci-fi alien invasion with a paranormal thriller. R.W.K. Clark Author Commentary on the Toxic Tide of Permanent Ink

“Permanent Ink” was born from a confluence of two distinct anxieties: the creeping dread of corporate irresponsibility and the visceral thrill of a classic zombie outbreak. I wanted to craft a story that wasn’t just about mindless gore, but one that held a mirror to our society, reflecting the potential for unchecked greed to unleash a plague of its own.

The genesis of Lumiosa ink was a thought experiment: what if a seemingly innocuous consumer product, designed to appeal to the innocent, became a vector for unimaginable horror? The holographic ink pens, with their vibrant allure, symbolized the deceptive sheen of consumerism, the way we’re often seduced by novelty without considering the potential consequences.

Aspen Stationers’ Supply, with its desperate CEO Roger McGinley, became the embodiment of corporate avarice. I wanted to portray the chilling calculus of profit-driven decisions, the way ethical considerations are often sacrificed at the altar of financial gain. McGinley’s character wasn’t meant to be a cartoonish villain, but a chillingly realistic portrayal of the kind of executive who prioritizes the bottom line above all else.

Randy Carstens, the conscientious scientist, became the counterpoint to McGinley’s greed. He represented the voice of reason, the individual who dares to speak truth to power. His struggle to expose the company’s malfeasance mirrored the real-world battles fought by whistleblowers and activists who challenge corporate wrongdoing.

The zombie outbreak itself was a metaphor for the rapid spread of societal ills. The infection, transmitted through a seemingly harmless product, symbolized the way that consumerism can poison our lives, turning us into mindless consumers driven by insatiable appetites.

The multi-location narrative structure, shifting between the hospital in Thornton, the Aspen Stationers’ headquarters, and the town of Monte Vista, was designed to emphasize the widespread impact of the outbreak. I wanted to show how corporate negligence could have a ripple effect, devastating communities across the country.

The hospital scenes, with Dr. Hilliard and Dr. Moss battling the undead alongside Megan Casperson and Harold Reese, were intended to explore the human capacity for resilience in the face of overwhelming horror. I wanted to portray the way that ordinary individuals can rise to extraordinary challenges when confronted with a crisis.

The town of Monte Vista, with Brian Olson and his mother caught in the crossfire, served as a microcosm of the larger societal collapse. I wanted to show how the undead outbreak could tear apart the fabric of a community, transforming neighbors into monsters.

The character of Captain Eli Hertz, the steadfast lawman, was meant to represent the forces of order and justice in a world descending into chaos. His partnership with Randy Carstens symbolized the alliance between science and law enforcement in the fight against corporate malfeasance.

“Permanent Ink” wasn’t just about zombies; it was about the insidious nature of greed, the way it can corrupt individuals and institutions, and ultimately, unleash a plague upon society. The novel was a cautionary tale, a warning about the dangers of unchecked corporate power and the need for ethical accountability.

Writing this book required me to delve into some dark places, to explore the depths of human depravity and the chilling logic of corporate greed. But it was also a cathartic experience, a way to confront my own anxieties about the state of our society.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

I wanted to leave readers with a sense of unease, a lingering question about the true cost of consumerism. I wanted to challenge them to think critically about the products they consume and the corporations that produce them.

Ultimately, “Permanent Ink” is a horror story with a conscience. It’s a reminder that we can’t afford to be complacent, that we must remain vigilant against the forces that seek to exploit our vulnerabilities for profit. And it is a story that shows the strength of humans to survive, even when all seems lost.

In this Permanent Ink book report you learn how a seemingly harmless product can unleash a terrifying zombie outbreak, and the devastating consequences of unchecked corporate greed.

Aspen Stationers’ Supply is on the brink of ruin, their salvation resting on Lumiosa, a revolutionary holographic ink pen destined to be a hit with kids. But beneath the shimmering allure lies a deadly secret: the ink transforms living creatures into ravenous, undead monsters.

Driven by desperation, the company unleashes Lumiosa upon unsuspecting consumers, triggering a terrifying zombie outbreak that spreads like wildfire. From a chaotic hospital overrun with the infected to a small town descending into madness, the consequences are swift and brutal.

In a world where corporate greed trumps human lives, scientist Randy Carstens and Captain Eli Hertz race against time to expose the truth and contain the spreading horror. But can they stop the tide of undead before it consumes everything?

R.W.K. Clark’s “Permanent Ink” is a visceral and thought-provoking horror novel that blends the classic zombie apocalypse with a biting commentary on consumerism and corporate irresponsibility. It’s a chilling reminder that sometimes, the most innocent products can unleash the most horrifying consequences.

R.W.K. Clark Author Commentary on the Genesis and Intentions Behind Living Legacy

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Living Legacy” holds a special place in my writing journey. It was my first completed novel, a project born from a fascination with the zombie genre and a desire to explore contemporary anxieties through a fictional lens. I wanted to create a story that felt both thrilling and relevant, a tale that would resonate with readers on a deeper level than just cheap thrills.

The initial spark for “Living Legacy” came from a growing concern about environmental degradation and the potential consequences of corporate negligence. I wanted to create a scenario where a seemingly innocuous product could have devastating repercussions, a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked industrial practices. The idea of contaminated water as the source of the outbreak felt particularly insidious, a subversion of a life-giving resource into a vector of destruction.

I also wanted to move away from the traditional zombie archetype. I wasn’t interested in creating mindless hordes of shambling corpses. Instead, I envisioned a plague that would amplify existing human tendencies, turning people into aggressive, violent versions of themselves. This approach allowed me to explore the darker aspects of human nature, the potential for cruelty and violence that lurks beneath the surface of civility.

The characters of Alicia and Jace were central to my vision. I wanted to create protagonists who were not only intelligent and resourceful but also morally grounded. Their scientific backgrounds were crucial, providing a logical framework for their investigation and problem-solving. I wanted to show that knowledge and critical thinking could be powerful tools in the face of chaos.

Alicia’s perspective as the narrator was a deliberate choice. I wanted to tell the story from a female point of view, to explore the apocalypse through a lens of empathy and resilience. Alicia’s character embodies the strength and determination that I believe are essential for survival in any crisis.

Jace, on the other hand, provided a counterbalance to Alicia’s emotional perspective. His analytical mind and scientific expertise were crucial in deciphering the chemical nature of the plague. Their relationship, which blossomed amidst the chaos, was intended to be a beacon of hope, a testament to the enduring power of human connection.

The supporting characters, though less prominent, played vital roles in shaping the narrative. Jim Richardson, the unwitting victim of corporate negligence, served as a tragic reminder of the human cost of unchecked greed. Harvey Mikelson, the ruthless CEO, embodied the negative aspects of corporate power, serving as the antagonist of the piece. Lilith was a catalyst, and Belinda, a plot device that allowed the main characters a place to operate from.

I intentionally kept the violence and gore to a minimum. I wanted to focus on the psychological impact of the plague, the fear and uncertainty that permeated the atmosphere. I also wanted to make the novel accessible to a wider audience, including those who might typically shy away from horror.

The abandoned house, discovered midway through the narrative, was a crucial setting. It provided a space for the characters to regroup, conduct experiments, and develop a plan of action. It also allowed for a shift in pacing, providing a moment of respite from the constant threat of the infected.

The romantic subplot between Alicia and Jace was intended to be more than just a distraction. It was a way to explore the themes of love, loyalty, and the enduring power of human connection. I wanted to show that even in the midst of chaos, love could blossom and provide a source of strength and hope.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

The open ending of “Living Legacy” was a deliberate choice. I wanted to leave the reader with a sense of uncertainty, a lingering question about the future. I believe that ambiguity is an essential element of the zombie genre, reflecting the unpredictable nature of survival and the ever-present threat of resurgence.

Living Legacy” was a learning experience for me. It was my first attempt at writing a novel, and I made many mistakes along the way. But it was also a labor of love, a story that I poured my heart and soul into. I hope that readers find it both entertaining and thought-provoking, a reflection of our contemporary anxieties and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. I also hope that it encourages people to think about the impact of our actions on the environment and the importance of holding corporations accountable.

  • Dead in the Water Book Report – A Zombie Outbreak at Sea

R.W.K. Clark’s Dead in the Water Book Report is a fast-paced, action-packed sci-fi horror novel that plunges readers into a terrifying scenario: a zombie outbreak on a cruise ship. The story blends classic zombie tropes with a unique twist, featuring intelligent, organized undead led by the ship’s captain.

Plot Summary – Dead in the Water Book Report

The narrative kicks off with the Harrington family, wealthy cruise passengers, docking in Belize. During their shore excursion, the son, Adam, is bitten by a stray dog. Unbeknownst to them, the dog carries a deadly virus. As the ship sets sail, Adam begins to transform, initiating a horrific chain of events. He attacks a fellow passenger, Patty, and the infection spreads rapidly, turning passengers and crew into flesh-eating zombies.

What sets this zombie tale apart is the intelligence of the undead. Captain James McElroy, the ship’s captain, remains cognizant in his undead state and organizes the zombies into a formidable force. His plan extends beyond the ship; he intends to reach land and unleash the virus upon the unsuspecting population.

Simultaneously, a parallel narrative unfolds in Belize. At a clandestine lab run by the now-deceased Dr. Anson, experimental rats undergo a violent transformation, mirroring the zombie outbreak on the ship. Dr. Anson’s assistant, Bruce Ward, discovers the lab’s dangerous situation and contacts the CDC. Investigator Carl Morgan and a CDC team led by David Umbridge arrive to contain the outbreak, adding a race-against-time element to the story.

On the cruise ship, a handful of survivors, including Ariana Harrington, attempt to evade the relentless zombies. They are trapped, with limited resources and no escape. Ariana, a strong female lead, takes decisive action and escapes in a lifeboat, determined to reach land and warn authorities before the ship docks.

The novel interweaves the desperate struggle on the ship with the CDC’s efforts in Belize, creating a tension-filled narrative that culminates in a race to prevent a widespread zombie apocalypse.

R.W.K. Clark Author Commentary on the Creation of Dead in the Water

Dead in the Water” was a thrilling departure for me, a chance to explore the zombie genre in a unique and, I hope, compelling way. I wanted to create a story that wasn’t just about mindless hordes of the undead, but one that delved into the psychological horror of a confined space, the terrifying potential of intelligent zombies, and the resilience of the human spirit.

The idea of a zombie outbreak on a cruise ship came to me as a perfect setting for claustrophobic horror. The vastness of the ocean combined with the enclosed environment of a ship created a sense of inescapable dread. I imagined the terror of being trapped at sea with no escape, surrounded by the relentless undead.

One of the key elements I wanted to explore was the concept of intelligent zombies. Captain James McElroy, the leader of the undead, was a crucial character in this regard. I wanted to portray him as a cunning and strategic antagonist, a leader who retained his cognitive abilities even in his zombified state. His ability to organize and direct the undead added a unique layer of horror, transforming them from mindless creatures into a calculated threat.

Ariana Harrington, the protagonist, was designed to be a strong female lead, a symbol of hope and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. I wanted to portray her as a resourceful and courageous character, capable of adapting and leading in a crisis. Her journey from a privileged passenger to a determined survivor was central to the narrative.

The dual narrative, with the CDC’s efforts in Belize, was intended to add a sense of scale and urgency to the story. I wanted to highlight the global implications of the outbreak and the desperate attempts to contain the virus. The contrast between the confined space of the ship and the wider scope of the CDC’s operations created a sense of tension and heightened the stakes.

The character of Adam Harrington, the catalyst for the outbreak, was meant to portray the indiscriminate nature of the virus. His transformation served as a stark reminder that no one was safe, regardless of their age or social status.

Claire and Jason Harrington, Ariana’s parents, were intended to represent the human tendency to deny danger until it’s too late. Their obliviousness and self-absorption highlighted the contrast between their privileged lives and the harsh reality of the situation.

Brice Cummings, the ship’s doctor, was designed to be a source of hope and support for the survivors. His medical expertise and compassionate nature provided a counterpoint to the brutality of the undead.

George Meade, the Captain’s assistant, was intended to show a more pragmatic approach to survival. His actions, driven by self-preservation, reflected the human tendency to prioritize survival in extreme circumstances.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

The writing style of “Dead in the Water” was intended to be fast-paced and action-oriented, reflecting the urgency of the situation. I wanted to create a sense of relentless tension, keeping the reader on the edge of their seat. The graphic descriptions and tense sequences were used to immerse the reader in the horror of the outbreak.

The themes explored in “Dead in the Water” were intended to resonate with readers on a deeper level. I wanted to explore the human capacity for survival, the nature of evil, and the consequences of unchecked scientific ambition. The story also touched on themes of human fallibility and the importance of resilience in the face of adversity.

The ending, while open-ended, was intended to leave the reader pondering the implications of the outbreak. I wanted to create a sense of unease, suggesting that the threat may not be fully contained. The open-ended nature of the ending also allowed for the possibility of future stories, exploring the wider impact of the virus.

Dead in the Water” was a challenging but rewarding project. I wanted to create a zombie novel that was both entertaining and thought-provoking, a story that would stay with readers long after they finished reading. I hope that I succeeded in crafting a narrative that was both thrilling and meaningful.

  • Monster Books are the Best for Horror Experiences

Monster books are still the best read for horror book lovers because they spark emotions by causing unexpected fears.

But this is not all. In great horror books, monsters possess a higher level of mystery. A monster is inhuman. It is also supernatural, and authors usually give them so many capabilities that create trouble for those seeking to contain their presence.

You can find a book with one or many monsters. For example, you can find a book in which the main character kills one monster, thinking that their territories are safe; but more emerge. The story continues to the point that readers and the main character(s) are in near-complete despair and think that the monster will conquer.

In RWK Clark’s all-time monster book Dead on the Water, blood-thirsty zombies capture a ship, led by the captain. They start killing the passengers and crews for blood. There is an interesting twist of events where the ship’s captain turns out to be one of the zombies and actually the leader who plans when they will capture the ship. Everyone seeks to know what would happen deep into the misery.

What happens when a dream vacation becomes a fight for survival?

Some monster books are so interesting that they will bring some light of hope to readers and the character that victory is possible. However, victory will not just come out of the blue. But disasters, violence, and struggles ensue throughout the story before these monsters lose the battle. Besides, there are only a few survivors.

What are People Afraid of in Monster Books?

One of the things that monster books will bring out is demons and evil powers. When reading a monster book, you will acquire a sense of increasing fear with the encounter of every other evil.

Each demon you meet could be more dangerous than the previous one; and it will also be harder to kill. The monsters grow in power and tactics, proving to be more frightening. The authors will also find a way of escalating the danger and ensuring its progression.

If you read ‘Dead on the Water’, you’ll be surprised by how R WK Clark will make you sympathize with the survivors of the zombie attacks in the ship. Although the attack survivors think that getting to the land will be safe, the monsters have a plan for the takeover. Besides, more danger lurks on the land for the survivors if the murderous rats from the Belize lab get out of hand.

Monsters aim to hurt, cause pain, and suffering to the people. Imagine reading a piece where demons come right below where you’re seated now and pull you underground. Or a scenario in which your neighbor passenger in a ship turns into a zombie and attempts to kill you in the middle of the ocean?

The Use of Unpredictable Characters in Horror Books

Yes, monster books have unpredictable episodes of horror. Although you know it will harm and possibly kill you, you don’t know exactly what these creatures are capable of. Interestingly, a monster could be your neighbor, driver, or best friend. They turn against you because of their supernatural power and evil urges to harm you.

So, what happens in Dead on the Water? Unsuspecting and innocent passengers, including the Harrington family, trust their lives to the captain. Contrary to their expectations that they will reach where they are going safely, it turns out that the captain was a zombie leader.

Dead on the Water By RWK Clark

When the book is beginning, you’ll find Captain James McElroy as a man with leadership and integrity. But when he becomes a monster, these very skills work against the passengers. He plans the ship capture, attack against the passengers, and how they will capture the land on docking.

Nobody could predict that this would be the turn of events in the books. Even the trapped passengers have no idea that greater danger lies ahead.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Monsters Books have Disturbing Violence.

Did you know that a monster is capable of killing you in a second? But most don’t, and they won’t just attack you—instead, the creatures attack in gruesome ways.

Monster books set the story to create maximum torture and pain to the victim to scare readers as much as possible. For example, a monster could tear your neck, remove your intestines or unplug your eyes. You’ll rarely find one of these creatures killing a character without agonizing them.

There are alarming events in horror genres that readers find extremely hard to continue reading. Imagining some little creatures eating up your eyes so that you don’t get to see its next action is not easy. Or your closet neighbor yearning for your blood!

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

R.W.K. Clark isn’t afraid to unleash the monsters, crafting thrilling narratives that pit his characters against terrifying creatures and supernatural forces. From the vampires and witches of the “DeSai” series, “Witches Immortal,” to the chilling zombie outbreaks in “Dead in the Water,” “Living Legacy,” and the Printz Award worthy YA series “Zombie Diaries,” RWK Clark’s monster books deliver heart-pounding suspense and unforgettable encounters with the creatures that lurk in the shadows. Even his hopeful National Book Award finalist, “Permanent Ink,” transforms a seemingly mundane stationery company into a breeding ground for corporate greed and a terrifying zombie apocalypse, proving that RWK Clark can find the monstrous lurking beneath even the most ordinary facades.

Dead on the Water” is the raw, untamed original, a descent into maritime horror where a mysterious illness transforms a cruise ship into a floating nightmare. “Dead in the Water” is the evolved, intensified version, a rewrite featuring a powerful female lead, Ariana, who battles the undead with fierce determination. While both deliver chilling suspense, “Dead in the Water” offers a modernized, more potent experience.

Whether you’re seeking monster novels filled with classic creatures or monster thrillers that explore the darker side of humanity, RWK Clark’s diverse catalog has something to satisfy your craving for the monstrous. He masterfully blends elements of horror, science fiction, and fantasy, creating monster horror stories that will keep you on the edge of your seat. So, if you’re ready to face your fears and witness the terrifying power of RWK Clark’s creations, grab one of his monster books and prepare to be transported to a world where the unimaginable becomes all too real. Just don’t say we didn’t warn you when you find yourself on the edge of the witness stand, recounting your chilling encounter with one of RWK Clark’s unforgettable monsters!

    Permanent Ink Writer’s Commentary

One Of My Best Supernatural Books Permanent Ink

I wrote ‘Permanent Ink’ with mostly one message to convey: The price of greed can be astronomical, and most often, it is horribly destructive.

This is the story of a stationers’ company. The company is on the brink of bankruptcy. But they have an ace in the hole: Knowing that the kids will love it. The executives at Aspen have a secret: Basically making this novel a fantastic addition to my sci-fi thriller books.

Best Supernatural Books: Unleash the Magic Within!

    Here’s the deal.

In an effort to show how widespread the destruction is, I scattered around the storyline of this supernatural book a bit. One particular incident takes place in a hospital in Thornton, Colorado. The viral outbreak is taking place in the suburbs. The local government is trying to figure things out, and has even called in the CDC.

Let’s look at the outbreak at the hospital. Before anyone even understands what is taking place, the zombie epidemic has spread like wildfire. Both patients and employees of the health care center are forced to fight for their lives. A pair of physicians are beginning to figure things out, slowly. But will they solve the problem before it’s too late? This also makes it one of the best supernatural books.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    This is crazy.

The hospital scenes are fast-paced; it is chaos there, and the panic the characters are feeling should be tangible. I did the best I could to convey this, without giving too much hope to the spreading epidemic. Frankly, it is because I felt the plague situation in Thornton was fairly close to being hopeless.

Discover the Best Supernatural Books: Your Gateway to Otherworldly Adventures!

    What’s the bottom line?

‘Permanent Ink’ is a zombie story, plain and simple, filled with the flesh-eating monsters that are all the rage at the current time. It is meant to gross readers out, to a certain extent, but mostly, with all of the chaotic scenes aside, I wanted to really convey a message. Corporate greed is the catalyst behind this horrible zombie outbreak, wreaking havoc on unsuspecting consumers who have been blindsided by their timely marketing tactics.

The worst part is, Aspen Stationers’ is more than suspicious of the potential for damage; they know full well what it can do, and they just don’t care. This type of manipulation takes place every day in our world, with results just as destructive, only slower and less obvious. This truth is really what is behind the message in this book.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    But here’s the kicker.

Of course, things have to be cleared up, and solutions must be found so life can go on. But as I mentioned earlier, I neither saw nor felt any positive resolution to this particular zombie writing, and as a writer, I had to struggle to make a way for the sun to rise on these towns again, with hope. I firmly believe that, if this were a true story, there would be no one left to write about it. The world would be taken out systematically by the undead pandemic. The one that Aspen Stationers’ created when they released their product to the public.

Want to know the best part of this best supernatural book?

With all that being said, ‘Permanent Ink’ is, in many ways, just another zombie yarn. It tells the story of something horrible getting into the wrong hands. Also, it breaks down the possibilities of what could really happen if these things took place.

Having done the best possible job cleaning up the mess, it is my hope that readers are able to enjoy this fiction book for what it truly is: A work of fiction that provides yet another take on zombies and how they might come to be walking, and terrorizing, among us. It is meant for entertainment. But I think the moral behind this made-up novel makes it possible to consider other possibilities. Hopefully, it causes readers to think about the items they are willingly choosing to consume.

    Permanent Ink Character Profile

    Randy Carstens

Randy is a thirty-something lead project scientist for Aspen Stationers’, and one of the main developers. While his research and testing have shown that the product is not at all safe for public release, the heads of the company insist it is. Randy is a family man who loves his kids and his wife; he has solid moral fiber, and he is willing to sacrifice his own comfort to do the right thing, no matter what the cost. Another reason why this is one of my best supernatural books.

    Roger McGinley

Roger is the CEO of Aspen, and he is determined to hit the shelves in time for school kids to get it, regardless of its danger. While his appearance in the novel is brief, it is vital. His character is a prime reflection of what is wrong with corporate business today.

    Captain Eli Hertz

Head of the Aspen police force, Captain Hertz is an upstanding officer with great concern for the infectious situation at hand. He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty in the process of trying to stop it. Hertz is a very logical, down-to-earth man who understands the depth of what is taking place, and he is horrified that it has been allowed to go so far.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Megan Casperson

The older sister of Melanie seems to know deep inside that the new school supply has something to do with the chaos breaking loose, though she is scared to death. Megan is a strong girl with brains, and hopefully it will keep her alive. This is another reason why I like this supernatural book.

    Dr. Kyle Hilliard

Dr. Hilliard is a handsome physician in his late thirties. He, together with the beautiful pediatrician Diana Moss, try to figure out what is going on and exactly what can be done to stop the zombie virus. Dr. Hilliard is not married, nor does he have children. However, he is a very good doctor who cares for each of his patients. He is stunned beyond belief at what is taking place, and he finds that pulling together is the only solution to such a horrid problem.

    Harold Reese

Harold is a janitor for Suburban Medical Center. He is also the head of the maintenance department as a whole. He is a very likeable man with a down-to-earth personality. Best of all, he is not afraid to do what he has to do. It is easy to say that Harold would be a shoe-in to keep around if you are in a group of people who are trying to survive a zombie attack. Harold is a fighter; whether he lives or dies, he is going to go down fighting to the bitter end.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Dr. Diana Moss

Dr. Moss knows her patients. Her intelligence and logic, along with her motherly instincts, make her one of the strongest and most caring of the group, an invaluable asset to those trying to survive the crisis at Suburban until authorities can figure out a way to stop the madness that is going on in the facility.

Permanent Ink by R.W.K. Clark is the story of a stationery company who has stumbled upon a beautiful new product. Being in dire financial straits, the company pushes to release the item before the new school year begins.
But Aspen Stationers’, has a secret: In the lab. So Aspen adds a weak, shifty disclaimer to the packaging and puts it on the shelves.

The result of their corporate greed is a horrible viral outbreak of murderous zombies, and the condition is spreading like wildfire. Be sure to put this novel on your list of horror stories to read.

    Here’s the deal.

While the zombie outbreak is spurned by the infectious product, the story actually takes place in several different locations.  Because of the courage of scientist Randy Carstens, hopefully and with any luck proper steps can be taken to stop the ravaging infection in its path. Let’s take a look at the company, and the bigwigs at Aspen, they are more concerned with pulling themselves out of ruin than being safe. This adds a bit of a crime thriller aspect to the novel.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    It gets better.

But Aspen isn’t the only area affected; the school supply has gone on sale in countless cities in the country, including Denver and its suburbs. The chance of a widespread pandemic is now imminent. There is no option but to attack and kill the zombies, which are growing in number by the second. The main reason I put this novel on my list of horror stories to read.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    What’s the bottom line?

So, aside from this being a zombie apocalypse offering that is very different to others zombie survival novels, ‘Permanent Ink’ really does have an impactful moral message: What is a financial success really worth? What price should anyone really be willing to pay for it?

In this book, the ultimate price is paid, and no one ever really enjoys the financial outcome due to the destruction it has caused. This point was enough to motivate me to compare the fiction to reality; how much far has corporate America gone to ensure their profit? How much has the public suffered for their governments greed? How much of what is touted as safe and fun is truly poisonous or detrimental to us, the consumers? Is this really a problem, or is ‘Permanent Ink’ just a pipe dream idea tossed about by a writer of horror-fiction? That’s why it is one of the popular horror stories to read.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    This is crazy.

I would have to say that, if we are being honest, this type of thing is constantly happening in the real world. Perhaps it doesn’t leave us as flesh-eating undead, but there are those who are visiting cancer doctors after years of consuming unhealthy products sold with ‘safe’ labels. It is the same with our medicines, beverages, and even the food we all eat. This isn’t considered one of the short stories, but a good book that will make you think about these things, if you are able to see beyond the fiction and focus on the truth.

  • Living Legacy Writer’s Commentary

    Living Legacy Among the Dead
    Living Legacy 0692517243

Living Legacy Among the Dead’ is the first complete book I wrote. Though it is a very quick read, I believe readers will get just as much out of its pages as they would if it were a larger novel. It is not written with a heavy moral lesson, though there is one here. Mostly, it was written for the sake of the love story which I have woven into the apocalyptic situation.

Alicia Gaden is a biology major at UCLA; she has her goals lined up and her future planned. She is also a very good student and person; she doesn’t galivant around with different boys or party. Rather, she remains single, and keeps her primary focus on her studies.

Living Legacy: Survival in a World Tainted by Terror!

Jace Booth is pretty much the same type of person as Alicia, with the exception being that he majors in chemistry. The pair meet up when everyone starts changing; people become violent, and their skin begins to pale and rot. For some reason, the two of them seem to survive the strange phenomenon taking place, but together they pursue knowledge regarding why this is happening. As it turns out, there are no two better for the job.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

The book is told from Alicia’s perspective, which is not typical for me. I wanted to convey the zombie outbreak from the female point of view, it really is that simple. It is not something I normally do, but it seems to have worked in this situation, as many readers have commented on it as being a good thing.
Alicia, in the initial pages, is pretty much on her own. Sure, she has a roommate, Lilith, but the girl really doesn’t have much of a purpose, except for the sake of the reality of college life. No, Alicia is witnessing the changes in others entirely on her own. She wants to figure out what is happening and why it doesn’t seem to be happening to her. She meets Jace during a trip to the UCLA student library, which turns out to be a relief because he seems unaffected as well.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Living Legacy: When Water Turns Against Humanity!

Unbeknownst to the two of them. All-Purpose Plastics has been developing the ‘plastic of the future’, Soligel. Unfortunately, they push it through for federal approval. It is only through their own tests and dangerous missions that Alicia and Jace are able to figure out the problem. Once that is pinpointed, they must come up with a way to solve the outbreak before it is too late.

I wanted the main characters to be highly intelligent, but I also wanted them to be as courageous as possible. Let’s face it: and I am sad to say, most college students today would panic and buckle if they found themselves in this situation. If these two are going to survive, and if any love is going to grow between them, it was essential for them to be strong and determined, and to have a mutually beneficial skill set if they wanted to get the job done. These are the main characteristics that were the foundation for Jace Booth and Alicia Gaden.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Now, it is true that I didn’t really deal with the executives of All-Purpose Plastics in a manner that would be satisfying. The fact is, to me, they would be succumbing to the outbreak in their own time and manner. That would be their just deserts. In order for the book to have the combined flavors that I gave it, there was no room for justice, at least, not the kind of justice these people rightfully deserved. Greed and malice are sicknesses of the soul; it was best to let karma deal with them and focus on Alicia and Jace.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

I wanted the relationship between the two of them to be held together by more than sex; my intent with these two was a lifelong commitment, even if there was the possibility that life could end at any second.
I also wanted them to be able to conduct their research in a setting that provided them with some level of peace and comfort. This is where the house comes in. Finding this location was essential to their success; I mean, let’s be real: If a couple of college kids are going to save the day having a comfortable base of operations is essential.

Without giving away the ending, I would just like to say that Alicia and Jace are very crafty, and they have more than enough reasons to accomplish their goal to defeat the zombies and fix the issue successfully. But as we all know, a good story never ends without some kind of lure or suggestion about the real state of things. Perhaps Alicia and Jace firmly believe that they have fixed the problem in the water, but did they really? Only time will tell. I sincerely hope that readers enjoy ‘Living Legacy: Among the Dead’, and appreciate it for the fun piece of fiction it was meant to be.

    Alicia Gaden
There is really no clear physical description given of the main character and narrator, Alicia Gaden. She is beautiful and has long hair, pretty features, and a slender build. Alicia’s strong points include her intelligence and scientific mind. She has a natural curiosity, and her impeccable research skills complement that perfectly.

Living Legacy: A Dystopian Battle for Humanity’s Future!

Alicia is driven, and she puts the majority of her focus on her studies as a biology major at UCLA. She also does not have a steady boyfriend, but she is narrating the book, and the reader can easily pick up on the fact that she is independent and goal-oriented, which seems to explain everything.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Even though she is strong, she is scared, and meeting up with Jace Booth is the best thing that could happen to her. Alicia is also about as human as she can get. When circumstances between her and Jace become very serious indeed, she reacts in her own mind with fear and trepidation, which is how all of us would be in her position.

    Jace Booth
Jace is very attractive, with black hair and blue eyes. He is a student at the university as well, only he is majoring in chemistry. Like Alicia, Jace isn’t dating anyone, and the reasons for this are similar to hers, as well. He is well aware of the situation happening with the zombies, and he is as relieved to meet Alicia as she is to meet up with him.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Jace is immediately attracted to Alicia, and he also feels a strong sense of obligation when it comes to protecting her. As far as being able to contribute to the goal of stopping the zombies, his knowledge of chemistry makes him an indispensable asset; together, they are the ideal match for such a desperate situation. By the time things really come to a head, Jace is ready to get through it and get on with his life, a life he plans to include Alicia Gaden.

Living Legacy: The Fight for a Future Worth Living!

    Jim Richardson
In his late fifties, Jim Richardson has already put in thirty years in the maintenance department at All-Purpose Plastics. Even though he is a tired man, he loves his job. Jim has gained the trust of all the big-wigs of the company because of his loyalty and discretion, and he wouldn’t compromise that for anything. A married man, he also fearfully takes note of the shortness of his temper when it comes to his wife; he has always been soft-spoken, never prone to violent outbursts. The man is so low-key and loyal that he won’t even go to the doctor without speaking to those in charge at work first, and this decision proves to be his demise.

Jim Richardson is the type of character, no matter how short-lived, who believes that he can trust everyone as much as he can be trusted; this shows in the fact that he has maintained such a rigid stance in his company’s favor for as long as he has. They have literally put him at risk every day of his life, and when it finally catches up, they throw him under the bus quickly and easily.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Mike Sandberg
Dr. Sandberg is the head scientist on the Soligel project for All-Purpose Plastics; he is also the first person Jim Richardson goes to. Mike Sandberg is a scientist, but he is also a compassionate man; he realizes the direness of Jim’s situation right away, but he doesn’t know what to do about it. As per policy, the man ends up dialing the president of the company, who literally takes matters with Jim Richardson into his own hands. Like Jim, it is loyalty on Mike’s part that motivates him to contact the guy at the top first.

    Harvey Mikelson
Harvey is the president and CEO of All-Purpose Plastics, and like all businessmen, his main priority is the bottom line. Harvey is fully aware of the dangers that Soligel poses, but he is more interested in pushing it through government approval and getting rich. His heart is blackened by greed. He is superficial and heartless, just the sort of man you would expect to be running a company and heading a terrible cover-up.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Lilith
Lilith is Alicia Gaden’s dormmate at UCLA. The two are friends, getting along as girlfriends should. They look out for each other, gab to each other, and generally help each other out when needed. While playing a very short role in this book, Lilith is the catalyst for the studies and research to be conducted by Alicia and Jace.

    Belinda Smythe
Belinda Smythe is not a speaking character at all in these pages; rather, she is just a nobody who happened to own a house out in the middle of nowhere. Belinda’s home and car become lifesaving find for Jace and Alicia, who are in desperate need of safe shelter by the time they stumble upon it. Belinda Smythe gets an honorary character mention.

    Living Legacy Among the Dead
    Living Legacy 0692517243

Living Legacy” throws readers into a chillingly realistic dystopian future where the very essence of life, water, has become a terrifying instrument of transformation.

What would you do if you one day woke up and everyone was turning into a zombie except for you? This is the question posed to UCLA students Alicia Gaden and Jace Booth in the pages of Living Legacy Among the Dead by R.W.K. Clark. Fortunately, this pair is sufficiently equipped to tackle the job.

The main idea of this particular selection is simple: Two educated young people must wing it to not only survive a zombie apocalypse, but to figure out how to stop it as well. Fortunately, their educations help abundantly in this department, not to mention the fact that fate seems to have lined circumstance up for them so their job will be a bit easier. As a work of fiction, this is a mild horror story that is easy on the gore, with a bit of a love story blended in to make it interesting.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

The zombie outbreak takes place as the result of failure on the part of a plastics company in Los Angeles. Toxins are inadvertently released and before anyone knows what’s happening, people are becoming zombies. The two main characters’ responsibility for survival and rectification pretty much falls firmly on their shoulders.

Living Legacy: Hope Blooms in a World of Decay!

The appearance of success is clear throughout the book. With that being said, Clark has a way of keeping things going right at the very end, and this particular tale is no exception. The eternal question he likes to ask is, ‘Is it really over?’

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Alicia Gaden is a biology major who lives on campus at UCLA. Her life is fairly normal: She studies and pays attention to her own plans. Alicia doesn’t have a boyfriend, even finding them to be something of a distraction. She is highly intelligent, and she picks up on the crazy changes going on around her rather quickly, noticing that it isn’t happening overnight.

Jace Booth is majoring in chemistry at the same school. Like Alicia, he is single, but he is very intelligent and good-looking; he could have any girl he wants, but he opts not to. Jace meets Alicia in the library, and after confirming that both of them are still normal, they begin to discuss the crisis going on all around them. Something must be done, or they are going to find themselves getting eaten and joining the masses.

It is a desperate situation for anyone to find themselves in, much less a couple of college kids. But they are a mature pair who knows how to rely on their strengths. RWK Clark plays this up in the simple, yet plausible and effective, explanation for the outbreak, as well as in the simplicity of the solution. Readers will easily be able to keep up with the story without having to trudge through the boring details of unnecessary technicalities.

The entire story takes place in Los Angeles, either at UCLA or nearby; near the middle of the book, the pair comes upon a deserted house, and it is here they take refuge so they can continue their research. The house takes some of the anxiety off the reader; Alicia and Jace aren’t barricaded in a lab somewhere trying to figure things out while zombies beat down the door. The more relaxed atmosphere of the situation allows the reader to slow down and get a firm grasp on the story. The close proximities of all scene locations also contributes to the ease of reading this selection; you don’t have too much to mentally juggle location-wise.

Then, of course, there is the romantic aspects of this particular title. It would be impossible for two young people Alicia’s and Jace’s ages to work together under such strain without mutual attraction taking place. RWK Clark knows this, and takes advantage of the situation. Yes, the couple fall in love, and there are sex scenes in the book. The scenes which are featured are toned down and tasteful, without graphic descriptions and tasteless vulgarity. Actually, this romance makes the book, in its own way. It gives the reader a break from the seriousness of their situation at just the right times, and the scenes don’t overwhelm due to abundance.

Finally, anyone who is familiar with the works of RWK Clark knows how he loves to add a little twist at the end of his books, leaving them open for anything. ‘Living Legacy’ is also an example of that. Since this is actually the first book Clark put out, this flair should be looked upon as groundbreaking for him, but for those who have read other books by this author first, this is commonplace for RWK Clark.

Bringing us to the end, we know where the lives of Jace and Alicia stand by the final pages. What do those pages hint around about regarding the success of Jace and Alicia’s work and research?

Ultimately, ‘Living Legacy: Among the Dead’ is another zombie story, but it has its own unique markings here and there, signifying to whom it belongs. It is very easy to keep up with, and it won’t take forever to get through. Because of the simplicity of his writing, the story is enjoyable, and even funny at times. If approached with the right mindset, this first book by RWK Clark should easily open doors for readers to delve further into what he has to offer. It is a creative story with an ending that isn’t all too horrible to stomach.

When the very source of life becomes a weapon, who will survive?Living Legacy” throws you into a world where contaminated water transforms people into monstrous beings. Witness the desperate struggle for survival and the fight to reclaim a future stolen by a poisoned legacy.

Dead on the Water Writer’s Commentary

One Of My Best Selling Fiction Books A Zombie Survival Novel

Dead On The Water has been optioned for a feature film adaptation, Dead In The Water.

This is another zombie story contribution which I put a bit of a spin on. ‘Dead on the Water’ chronicles the story of a Fantasy Lines cruise ship which has a passenger who got bit by a dog during a shopping spree with their parents in Belize. Not knowing that the dog is carrying a terrible, contagious zombie-making virus, the bite-victim re-boards the ship, and it returns to the vast ocean.
The first thing I would like to say about this particular zombie survival book, I allowed them to be able to think, speak, and function, but they are the undead, nevertheless. The leader of the living dead pack, Captain James McElroy, even continues to be the leader in death that he was in life, and his pandemic plan is to take over the entire ship.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Stories That Captivate the World!

I consider this to be one of my best selling fiction books. ‘Dead on the Water’ is my second zombie thriller release. Also, it is the second book I have written that I would classify as sci-fi horror. My first novel in my list of zombie books is ‘Living Legacy’. My third novel would be ‘Permanent Ink’. Be sure to try my zombie book series ‘Zombie Diaries’.

    But here’s the kicker.

This is a fast-paced thriller fiction book; once the action starts, it is pretty much non-stop. Being on a cruise ship, those who are still normal have very limited resources or means of escape. While it is about zombies, and there are several very graphic scenes, I do not believe it is necessarily scary as far as scary horror stories go. I tried to use dialogue in a surreal manner, especially coming from the living dead monsters, in an effort to show the craziness and terrifying truth about the situation, but I didn’t want it to be too heavy. My vision was simply to relate the hopelessness of the plague situation without making the zombie fiction burdensome to read; I wanted it to be on the ‘lighter’ side, if possible.

Now, I presented a couple of different situations in this best selling fiction book

The primary one takes place on the ship; the second is happening at a shady lab in Belize. This lab is sort of an underground operation run by a somewhat ‘mad scientist’ and his assistant, Bruce Ward; the good doctor relocated after the States stopped his experimentation. The long and short of it is that this lab has gone haywire. The CDC tries to gain control of this infectious situation, which is sort of a side-line story to give you, the reader, a bit of hope that this craziness will be contained. I should warn you, especially my new readers.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Your Journey to Literary Escape Starts Here!

I find it difficult to imagine happy endings when it comes to the genres I write in, and I find it much easier to be horribly realistic. But let’s face it, I write about completely unrealistic stuff. What I’m trying to say is, the glory of fiction is in its falseness, but the impact of fiction is found in its painful reality. If a zombie apocalypse illness really happened, would the ending really be a good one? Another reason why this is one of my best selling fiction books.

    Don’t get your hopes up.

Speaking of hope, let’s talk about the CDC battling things on land. If the zombies reach land, there will be a pandemic zombie outbreak, and nothing the CDC is doing in Belize will matter. Someone on that damn boat has to be smart enough to get away and get help. Pretty daunting task, don’t you think? To reach the docking point before the ship, baking in the sun with no water, and having been through a terribly traumatic and unbelievable experience? Well, all I have to say is, you’ll just have to see.

    What’s the bottom line?

On another topic, I didn’t get too deep with any of the characters as far as their personal appearance or personalities. There are many characters in ‘Dead on the Water’; only a few hold the limelight, ultimately, it is ‘every man for himself’. So, as far as my second zombie story goes, I hope you enjoy it. It’s a little lighter than you might expect, but it is fast-paced, and you’ll find plenty of gruesome scenes. ‘Dead on the Water’ is an easy and entertaining read. I hope you’ll check out this best selling zombie fiction book, and have fun reading it, too!

Dead on the Water Character Profile

    Ariana Harrington

Ariana is the daughter of Jason and Claire Harrington, and sister to Adam; all four of them are passengers on the Fantasy Line cruise ship on which the zombie outbreak in this novel begins. Ariana is a pretty strawberry blonde girl with smarts and ambition: She wants to be a veterinarian someday due to her deep affection for animals. She is also a good girl, not defiant or demanding, and in this way she differs from her mother and brother; her father is too busy trying to keep up with demands to be an issue.

    Captain James McElroy

This man is the big cheese on the ship, and in the beginning he is suited well for his position. He is a leader with integrity, even having his wife with him on board at all times; as far as his underlings, they all trust and look up to him. Unfortunately, the captain becomes infected with the zombie virus. However, he ends up maintaining much of his mind, though it has changed into something evil with the disease. McElroy winds up devising a pandemic plan that includes not only taking over the ship by turning every last passenger, but making it to land to dock and spreading the illness there as well; a true zombie apocalypse.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Discover Your Next Unforgettable Read!

    Carl Morgan

Carl Morgan is employed by the CDC as an investigator, and he is sent ahead of the assigned crew to begin the investigation at Dr. Anson’s lab regarding the killer rats. He is a level-headed man who has no idea what he is heading into, but once he realizes its a zombie outbreak, he takes the upper-hand easily and begins to go into action as best he knows how.

    Adam Harrington

Ariana’s brother is something of an entitled brat. He is the coveter of electronics and all things spendy, and he feels that everyone is there to tend to him. He is the type of kid that, if asked to do even the smallest task or favor for another, puts on a big dramatic show, with plenty of whining and complaining. As you will soon read, he is his mother’s child.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Where Imagination Takes Center Stage!

    Claire Harrington

Claire is a privileged woman who was fortunate enough to marry a successful man, but she is nothing more than a taker. She loves all the finer things in life, but most of all, she loves spending money senselessly. Her children are of little concern to her, unless it’s for her own benefit, and if they are not in her hair, she is happy. She is another whiner who believes that everyone owes her something. Another reason it is one of the best selling fiction books.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Uncover the Magic of Storytelling!

    Jason Harrington

The patriarch of the Harrington clan works constantly to provide for his family. But he is exhausted by his ungrateful spouse and son. He only participates in things like the cruise to stop his wife’s incessant nagging, otherwise he could live without all the extravagance that she insists upon. He wouldn’t be too broken up if she wanted a divorce, except that she would play the martyr and take every penny, so he abides. Ariana is his favorite because she is most like him, but he doesn’t realize how tarnished and jaded he has become by life.

    Dr. Jonathan Anson ‘mad scientist’

Dr. Anson is the head of the lab project which has caused the viral outbreak. His lab is sort of an underground operation. The good doctor Anson and his assistant, Bruce Ward relocated after the States stopped his experimentation. The long and short of it is that this lab has gone haywire, and its infected rats are beginning to run rampant.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    David Umbridge

David is head of the CDC crew being sent from the US to Belize to battle the viral outbreak. He is a gutsy, level-headed man that is easy to picture as something of a Rambo. Definitely a take-charge and action kind of guy; Umbridge will not hesitate to take extreme measures if he deems them fit.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Experience the Stories Everyone’s Talking About!

    Kim Johnson, Keith Mitchell

This pair complete the CDC crew under Umbridge. Keith has some pathogen and parasite experience, but Kim is brand new, and she was there as sort of a ‘breaking in’ measure. Neither of them have seen anything like the living dead disease they are about to encounter with the rats, and their shock and surprise put them in serious danger at every turn.

Best Selling Fiction Books: The Stories That Define Our Time!

    George Meade
