  • 5 Ways to Make More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

We are seeing more scary stories to tell in the dark today than years before, and choosing the right one to read may not be easy.

A scary story is not different from other stories. They have a main character or characters, a goal, and obstacles that stand in the way of the main heroine. However, they also include more features like a creepy adversary, a scary setting, and a twist.

For example, imagine being at the heart of the Amazon Forest taking photos with your guide. An unknown bird comes from nowhere and kills your guide right on your watch! How will you flee for your life?

Blood Feather Awakens: more scary stories to tell in the dark
The raptor is coming to town—and it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen.

Well, your biggest concern would be survival! You want nothing but to get yourself out of the woods, frightened that you could be the next victim. But Sam Daniels’ first mission, a wildlife photographer in Blood Feather Awakens, is to take a photo of the creature. He hoped to find an expert who would tell him what that bird was.

How to Find More Scary Stories to Tell in the dark

The first thing you want to have in the story you select is a dark, isolated, and imprisoning setting. Yes, look for a story where the character fights or escapes from an unknown monster in the dark or rainy and stormy setting. Look for the one that makes them as helpless as possible to the point that they feel like giving up. But the story must be pushing them harder every moment such that it will leave you wondering what might happen next.

The next thing you want to do is follow the character as far as you can. Follow them in environments where the source of help is not near. Where they cannot communicate or even find their way to safety easily. Maybe there are scary serial killers running about in their town or a mysterious unmarked van parked across from their house watching them.

R WK Clark takes Sam Daniels for the first time in the Amazon Forest and then kills his guide through the unknown bird. What happens next? It’s a struggle to escape, but he must take the photo of the creature to experts for research.

Similarly, you can find a story that traps the main character somewhere if you are interested in reading more scary stories to tell in the dark.

How can you Choose More Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Through Characters?

After you get a story with scary settings, having one or two good characters is not enough. Instead, look for something that builds some creepy opponents. Do not go for a book that limits the good guys into fighting only one battle.

A perfect story that includes creepy characters is Blood Feather Awakens, where, on one hand, Sam and Kate hunt the monster against Dr. Harold Kreiger and Dr. Roy Hastings. R.W.K. Clark makes the two adversaries have malicious intentions. The two want to catch the creature first so that they can gain fame and go down in history as the people who discovered the creature.

On the other hand, Sam and Kate have the purest intent. Their drive is to find out what that creature is. Their bond grows stronger as they hunt for it, making the reader flow with the story and fall in love with them deeper.

These stories may also make something feel wrong with the creepy characters even if they are like you and me. For example, Kate felt something was wrong when she wanted to tell Dr. Harold Kreiger about the killer bird.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Although the reader did not know whether she was right in her sentiments, it turns out that her colleague started working against her to benefit by catching the bird first.

More scary stories to tell in the dark could also add something magical or special to their personality.

    Looking for a Twist

A story is not enjoyable if it flows in a predictable version from the beginning to the end. Good stories aim to shock the audience, which comes by changing the plot in a way that was unprecedented.

The twist shows the main characters or readers that everything is not as one would think. RWK Clark’s ‘Blood Feather Awakens’ is not short of this feature.

    Final Thoughts

If you are thinking about more scary stories to tell in the dark, look at those whose settings and characters are suitable for the purpose. You should also seek to find stories that create a twist so that when you start to tell the story in the dark, it will scare your audience as far as you tell it right.

Unleash Your Inner Ghoul: Crafting More Terrifying Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

The crackling campfire, the rustling leaves, and the hushed anticipation – there’s nothing quite like the thrill of a well-told scary story. If you’re eager to conjure up tales that send shivers down spines and leave listeners wide-eyed, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s delve into the art of crafting more spine-tingling narratives, exploring the elements that make a truly terrifying story.

The Anatomy of a Chilling Tale

What separates a mediocre ghost story from a truly unforgettable nightmare? It’s all in the details. Here’s a breakdown of the key ingredients:

    • Isolation: Placing your characters in isolated locations heightens the sense of vulnerability. A lone cabin in the woods, a deserted highway, or a remote island can create an atmosphere of dread.
    • Uncertainty: The unknown is often more terrifying than the revealed. Leave room for ambiguity and let your listeners’ imaginations fill in the gaps.
    • Psychological Tension: Explore the inner fears and anxieties of your characters. What are they afraid of? How does their fear manifest?
    • A Sense of Imminent Danger: Create a feeling that something terrible is about to happen, building suspense with each passing moment.
    • Relatable Characters: Even in the midst of supernatural or horrific events, your characters should feel real. This allows the listener to empathize with their fear.

Exploring the Depths of Darkness: Scary Serial Killers

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

The human capacity for evil is a chilling source of inspiration for many scary stories. Tales of scary serial killers tap into our primal fears, exploring the darkest corners of the human psyche.

    • The Unseen Predator: A killer who lurks in the shadows, their motives unknown, creates a sense of pervasive dread.
    • The Twisted Mind: Delve into the psychology of the killer, exploring their motivations and the disturbing logic that drives their actions.
    • The Gruesome Details: While not necessary to be excessively graphic, carefully chosen details can enhance the horror and create a visceral reaction.
    • The feeling of helplessness: A killer that is too powerful, or too cunning, creates a feeling of helplessness.

    Creating an Atmosphere of Isolation

Isolated settings amplify the sense of vulnerability and create a breeding ground for fear.

    • The Abandoned Location: An empty hospital, a deserted town, or a forgotten asylum can evoke a sense of unease and dread.
    • The Perilous Journey: A group of travelers stranded in a remote location, cut off from civilization, creates a sense of helplessness.
    • The Confined Space: A locked room, a dark tunnel, or a claustrophobic space can heighten the feeling of being trapped and vulnerable.
    • The feeling of being alone: Even in a group, characters can feel alone, and vulnerable.

Tips for Telling Scary Stories Effectively

The delivery of a scary story is just as important as the content. Here are some tips to enhance your storytelling:

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–
    • Use Your Voice: Vary your tone, volume, and pacing to create suspense and emphasize key moments.
    • Build Suspense: Start slowly, gradually increasing the tension until the climax.
    • Use Visual Language: Paint vivid pictures with your words, allowing your listeners to visualize the scene.
    • Don’t Be Afraid to Pause: Strategic pauses can heighten the tension and create a sense of anticipation.
    • Use the dark: Dim the lights, or use the darkness of the night, to enhance the experience.

    Beyond the Clichés: Adding Originality

While classic tropes can be effective, adding original twists and unexpected elements can elevate your scary stories to new heights.

    • Subvert Expectations: Challenge common horror tropes and surprise your listeners with unexpected twists.
    • Incorporate Local Legends: Draw inspiration from local folklore and urban legends to create a sense of authenticity.
    • Explore Contemporary Fears: Tap into current anxieties and social issues to create stories that resonate with modern audiences.
    • Blend Genres: Combine elements of different genres, such as science fiction or fantasy, to create unique and innovative stories.

The Power of Storytelling: Unleashing Fear

Scary stories have a unique ability to tap into our deepest fears and anxieties. By mastering the art of storytelling, you can create narratives that leave a lasting impression on your listeners. Embrace the darkness, unleash your imagination, and craft tales that will haunt their dreams.

One Of My Best Supernatural Books Permanent Ink

I wrote ‘Permanent Ink’ with mostly one message to convey: The price of greed can be astronomical, and most often, it is horribly destructive.

This is the story of a stationers’ company. The company is on the brink of bankruptcy. But they have an ace in the hole: Knowing that the kids will love it. The executives at Aspen have a secret: Basically making this novel a fantastic addition to my sci-fi thriller books.

Best Supernatural Books: Unleash the Magic Within!

    Here’s the deal.

In an effort to show how widespread the destruction is, I scattered around the storyline of this supernatural book a bit. One particular incident takes place in a hospital in Thornton, Colorado. The viral outbreak is taking place in the suburbs. The local government is trying to figure things out, and has even called in the CDC.

Let’s look at the outbreak at the hospital. Before anyone even understands what is taking place, the zombie epidemic has spread like wildfire. Both patients and employees of the health care center are forced to fight for their lives. A pair of physicians are beginning to figure things out, slowly. But will they solve the problem before it’s too late? This also makes it one of the best supernatural books.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    This is crazy.

The hospital scenes are fast-paced; it is chaos there, and the panic the characters are feeling should be tangible. I did the best I could to convey this, without giving too much hope to the spreading epidemic. Frankly, it is because I felt the plague situation in Thornton was fairly close to being hopeless.

    What’s the bottom line?

‘Permanent Ink’ is a zombie story, plain and simple, filled with the flesh-eating monsters that are all the rage at the current time. It is meant to gross readers out, to a certain extent, but mostly, with all of the chaotic scenes aside, I wanted to really convey a message. Corporate greed is the catalyst behind this horrible zombie outbreak, wreaking havoc on unsuspecting consumers who have been blindsided by their timely marketing tactics.

The worst part is, Aspen Stationers’ is more than suspicious of the potential for damage; they know full well what it can do, and they just don’t care. This type of manipulation takes place every day in our world, with results just as destructive, only slower and less obvious. This truth is really what is behind the message in this book.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    But here’s the kicker.

Of course, things have to be cleared up, and solutions must be found so life can go on. But as I mentioned earlier, I neither saw nor felt any positive resolution to this particular zombie writing, and as a writer, I had to struggle to make a way for the sun to rise on these towns again, with hope. I firmly believe that, if this were a true story, there would be no one left to write about it. The world would be taken out systematically by the undead pandemic. The one that Aspen Stationers’ created when they released their product to the public.

Want to know the best part of this best supernatural book?

With all that being said, ‘Permanent Ink’ is, in many ways, just another zombie yarn. It tells the story of something horrible getting into the wrong hands. Also, it breaks down the possibilities of what could really happen if these things took place.

Having done the best possible job cleaning up the mess, it is my hope that readers are able to enjoy this fiction book for what it truly is: A work of fiction that provides yet another take on zombies and how they might come to be walking, and terrorizing, among us. It is meant for entertainment. But I think the moral behind this made-up novel makes it possible to consider other possibilities. Hopefully, it causes readers to think about the items they are willingly choosing to consume.

    Permanent Ink Character Profile

    Randy Carstens

Randy is a thirty-something lead project scientist for Aspen Stationers’, and one of the main developers. While his research and testing have shown that the product is not at all safe for public release, the heads of the company insist it is. Randy is a family man who loves his kids and his wife; he has solid moral fiber, and he is willing to sacrifice his own comfort to do the right thing, no matter what the cost. Another reason why this is one of my best supernatural books.

    Roger McGinley

Roger is the CEO of Aspen, and he is determined to hit the shelves in time for school kids to get it, regardless of its danger. While his appearance in the novel is brief, it is vital. His character is a prime reflection of what is wrong with corporate business today.

    Captain Eli Hertz

Head of the Aspen police force, Captain Hertz is an upstanding officer with great concern for the infectious situation at hand. He isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty in the process of trying to stop it. Hertz is a very logical, down-to-earth man who understands the depth of what is taking place, and he is horrified that it has been allowed to go so far.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Megan Casperson

The older sister of Melanie seems to know deep inside that the new school supply has something to do with the chaos breaking loose, though she is scared to death. Megan is a strong girl with brains, and hopefully it will keep her alive. This is another reason why I like this supernatural book.

    Dr. Kyle Hilliard

Dr. Hilliard is a handsome physician in his late thirties. He, together with the beautiful pediatrician Diana Moss, try to figure out what is going on and exactly what can be done to stop the zombie virus. Dr. Hilliard is not married, nor does he have children. However, he is a very good doctor who cares for each of his patients. He is stunned beyond belief at what is taking place, and he finds that pulling together is the only solution to such a horrid problem.

    Harold Reese

Harold is a janitor for Suburban Medical Center. He is also the head of the maintenance department as a whole. He is a very likeable man with a down-to-earth personality. Best of all, he is not afraid to do what he has to do. It is easy to say that Harold would be a shoe-in to keep around if you are in a group of people who are trying to survive a zombie attack. Harold is a fighter; whether he lives or dies, he is going to go down fighting to the bitter end.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Dr. Diana Moss

Dr. Moss knows her patients. Her intelligence and logic, along with her motherly instincts, make her one of the strongest and most caring of the group, an invaluable asset to those trying to survive the crisis at Suburban until authorities can figure out a way to stop the madness that is going on in the facility.

    Overtaken Captive States Writer’s Commentary

One Of My Best Science Fiction Novels Overtaken Captive States Alien Invasion

Get a copy of Overtaken now.

This particular fiction novel was one of the very first I have written. Also, it is the only one I have penned with a focus on alien invasion. I think that the computer hacker premise of the book is good, and the story is fairly spooky overall.

The prologue consists of nothing but random characters in scattered cities. It relates the very first ufo sightings of the invasion of the Oppressors from varying points of view. As far as an introduction goes, it is superficial, but it is effective because of this fact. Once the invasion of alien life becomes confirmed reality. I introduce the main characters of this science fiction novel and tell the story.

This is an alien invasion story that really doesn’t have the obligatory ‘happy ending’; nothing about this situation could possibly end happily for humans, and I wasn’t going to pretend it could. But to me, the invasion itself is not the scariest part of ‘Overtaken’; being tested to determine if you are of enough value to live or die is even more frightening. The pressure of the situation, and the truth that even if you pass the tests, you will go to a foreign planet forever, is a grim thought of abduction to have on one’s shoulders. In the real world, people would commit suicide if faced with the prospect. The main reason why I consider this to be one of my best science fiction novels.

    It gets better.

There always has to be a hero or two, even if they ultimately are only saving themselves. The character of Josh Nichols takes readers to Washington, DC, with front row seats. Josh works as a code writer at the Pentagon. He is a young, ambitious man with all of his supposed ducks in a row. Something of a workaholic, Josh has no family or girlfriend in DC; he was born and raised in Iowa, so he’s still fairly green behind the ears.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Kamryn Reynolds is Josh’s polar opposite. With a history of security hacker crimes and street-life, she is a seasoned, semi-tough computer hacker who is always dodging the law. When the invasion takes place, these two meet accidentally, and now the hacking stories begin.

    But here’s the kicker.

In an effort to pick up the pace in this supernatural thriller, I gave humankind a deadline, so to speak. Josh and Kamryn must get this all figured out before they are herded away for themselves.

    You might be wondering.

What is the testing for? This was the fun part for me, because the concept does spark fear in my heart. So, am I being tested for strengths, or weaknesses? What will be done to me, extermination-wise, if I fail either way? Worse yet, what will happen to me if I ‘pass’? It all consists of question marks which dance gleefully around the unknown, and the unknown is the scariest thing in the world. The second reason why I consider this to be one of my best science fiction novels.

    Here’s the deal.

Now, we should probably consider the question: Why choose Josh and Kamryn to try and save the day? Well, dear reader, I think the answer is obvious: It makes for a story that is much more fun and relatable, and because, well… It’s time for a computer hacker hero. But seriously, isn’t it hard to relate to every super-hero character there is? Real life consists of real people, and that’s what these two kids represent. Yet another reason why I consider this to be one of my best science fiction novels.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Want to know the best part?

‘Superior’ is another character I enjoyed playing with. He is the soulless, alien leader of the Oppressors, and his mission is destruction to his gain. He couldn’t care less about these ‘humans’. To him, they are like cockroaches in a deserted house; they must be exterminated before the new tenants can move in. From that perspective, it is his nature to be who he is and do what he is doing to humanity, just as it is our nature to love puppies and kitties and show compassion. The Oppressors are not able to think or feel in the same way.

The president, and all of his high-end, star-spangled advisors, are at a loss. The reason for this is simple: If aliens ufos came, and they had the technology to get here, chances are they have it over on us. It would be a losing battle if indeed we had to fight one. None of the governments computer geniuses from SETI or NASA think like Kamryn or Josh, which forces the president’s hand. I almost wrote these high-ranking officials as ‘bumbling’, because that’s how I saw them in my mind’s eye. They have been so busy thinking they were omnipotent that they never stopped to think about their own mortality. Bumbling, like I said.

    What’s the bottom line?

I liked the way all of the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ worked out the way they did. I hope readers have a good time with this grim story, and enjoy one of my best science fiction novels Overtaken. Besides that, I hope that fans get out of  the book all I put into it: From the fiction to the fear.

    Overtaken Captive States Character Profile

    Josh Nichols

This young man is not really considered a computer hacker.Hhe is more of a code writer at the Pentagon in Washington, DC, but he hails from the small town in Iowa. Josh’s parents are alive, but they stayed in the heartland. Josh is literally winging it in life on his own, but he is smart, confident, and driven, so he is unafraid. Josh has no girlfriend, and he is typically too busy in work to hang out with others and have fun. He is dependable, and he is making his parents very proud of him. Though a nerd by nature, Josh is in good shape, and he is very attractive, with longish dark brown hair that he wears a bit feathered; his eyes are brown as well.

    Kamryn Reynolds

Kamryn is a petite girl with blonde hair and green eyes. She is highly intelligent but has absolutely no upbringing as far as moral responsibility is concerned. She is a professional computer hacker and is mostly concerned with staying under the cops’ radar and maintaining her freedom. When the invasion happens, Kamryn takes off, and this is when she meets Josh Nichols.

She is quick and attentive to detail, making her the primary candidate for helping bring down the Oppressors. Kamryn falls for Josh just as easily as he does for her, and they must consummate their love in some strange places. These chain of events ad some romantic suspense to the novel. Fortunately, Kamryn’s inhibitions don’t really exist. This makes this one of the best science fiction novels.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    President Andrew Mason

President Mason is a man in his mid-forties who is responsible for the greatest country on Earth, but he is in no way ready to deal with the Oppressors when they arrive. He is handsome, with sandy-brown hair and dark light blue eyes. He is always surrounded by advisors and the like, but he is scared to death with the situation at hand, and it shows in the sketchiness he demonstrates.

Mason is the kind of man who is quick to turn to those around him for answers while maintaining a façade of full control. He is the first character to demonstrate the desperate state of man; Mason knows the end is near, and he begins to think about his family, and his love for them. Even in his weakness, Mason possesses a level of wisdom, and he gravitates toward Josh just a bit, sort of in a mentoring fashion.

    Superior

Superior is the leader of the Oppressors and leading occupant of the mothership, which is under his command. He has a couple of underlings: Secondary, who is his ‘right-hand alien’, and Subordinate, who is basically a lackey for secondary. Even these ever-present companions to the old general are scared to death of him, and it shows.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

He is the sort of individual who will kill you just as soon as look at you, and he is also the sort to lie to his own people to fulfill his own desires and cravings. It is directly by his extraterrestrial life that the Oppressors spend centuries at war, and this comes out as the story progresses. He would like people to believe he is full of mercy and compassion, but he has ulterior motives for every seemingly merciful move he makes.

Tall, with large hands and common receding hairline, Superior and all of his people look very much like human beings, with most of the major differences being in size and proportion. The name ‘Superior’, as well as the names of other Oppressors, are simply the closest thing to human pronunciation they can come up with; the alien language is unpronounceable with human lips.

    Sharon, the Secretary

She is the secretary in the Pentagon and makes several small appearances in the pages of this book. She is a sharp-dressing blonde bombshell who is constantly fetching coffee or other needed items. With a penchant for bright red lipstick, she seems to catch every male eye, but Sharon keeps to herself and does her job well. Another reason why this is one of the best science fiction novels.

Huck Brown, June Ellison, and Jake Hartwell

These three characters are rooting in the prologue, and the arrival of three Oppressor spaceships is told from their perspectives of the ufo sightings. Huck is a filling station employee whose mean-spirited head is mostly full of rocks. June Ellison is an insurance company employee in Mesa who pretty much cracks up at the sight of an extraterrestrial ship. Jake Hartwell is a doctor in Baltimore who is on his way to his son’s school to deal with the fact that the kid has stolen his gun when he first spies the flying saucer. Each of them could be anyone, and each of them is simply going about their day-to-day lives when the Oppressors arrive.

  • Lucifer’s Angel Writer’s Commentary

    Lucifer’s Angel Book
    Lucifers Angel 0692733280

Lucifer’s Angel’ is a book which tells the tale of a young girl raised in a very religious home, who experiences a year of terrible loss. The result of these painful occurrences is loss of the faith she has had her entire life, and in an effort to find a ‘god’ she can trust, the young teen turns to witchcraft. Unfortunately, she has no idea what she is getting herself into, and the consequences of her choice to revert are devastating.

Lucifer’s Angel: A Battle of Light and Shadow!

Sarah Hathaway is your average teenager. She has lived in the fictional town of Paradise, her entire life, the only child of her parents, and their pride and joy. She has a very normal, happy life: Sarah has her best friend, Michelle, and her beloved border collie, Mitzi. She also has an uncommonly close relationship with her grandmother, church pianist Emma Holt. Everything in her life is perfect, and she is completely unprepared for the series of tragedies that take place.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

For me, the best thing about writing ‘Lucifer’s Angel’ was the freedom I had to add as many twists and surprises as I saw fit. This is an unpredictable book, and I like it that way. Even to the very last pages, when you finally think you have what is happening to Sarah figured out, I switch it up. But what I have to say is that the nature of this book is the perfect breeding ground for such surprise, and without it, this would not have come anywhere near making the point I intended it to make.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

So, then, what is the point? Well, I could say there are a few, in fact. First, it is safe to say that we should never dabble in something we know nothing about. Hidden dangers lurk around every last corner in this world, and matters of spirituality are no exception. Whether you are a religious person or not, this is a fact, and Sarah learns this in a terrifying and painful way. Unfortunately for her, this lesson comes late.

Secondly, pain is a part of life. All of us go through doubt about our own beliefs and abilities. Sarah’s doubt happens to run so deep, and her heart is so broken, that she makes the choice to turn to witchcraft almost strictly out of a sense of revenge toward God. ‘If you won’t give me my way, I’ll find someone who will,’ is essentially her thought process. Of course she is hurting, but we all do, and no one is exempt. When we turn our back on our own knowledge and beliefs because we are pouting over the facts of life, we sort of get what we deserve in the end. No amount of revenge or fit throwing will change the fact that bad things happen every single day.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

I also try to convey the fact that it is terribly dangerous to give others too much trust. There are those in life that hold positions that should be trustworthy… pastors, parents, teachers, and the like. But we all know too well that everyone is human, and human beings are selfish by nature, not to mention capable of horrible things, no matter what their title or position is. This is especially true if there is something valuable to gain.
Yes, once again I have added surprises. Yes, I have twisted things in all the right places. But as I said above, this type of thing would be the nature of the black arts anyway; don’t be surprised. The only thing I will admit to here is that I wish things could have gone differently for Sarah in her life; she is a likeable young lady who has promise. Unfortunately, her anger and decisions are her own worst enemy, and ultimately and sadly, this plays out in her life for you to read.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

I hope you enjoy reading ‘Lucifer’s Angel’, both for the joy of reading and for the points I have tried to make. It is a creative effort that consists of grief, horror, a bit of romance, and desperation. I have written about witchcraft before, but this story should drive things home and make them a bit more real.

  • Lucifers Angel Character Profile

    Lucifer’s Angel Book
    Lucifers Angel 0692733280

    Sarah Hathaway
In Lucifers Angel character Sarah is a high school girl from the town of Paradise, which is predominantly Christian. Having been raised in the faith, she is confident of God’s love for her. But when she goes through several traumatic losses, Sarah begins to experience a high level of doubt, and she turns to witchcraft to gain control over her own life.

She is a good girl, has never had boyfriends, and until her issues, was an active participant in the church with several ‘Christians’ who she admires and looks up to. She is very naïve, having no knowledge of the things she is getting involved with, or the depth of how evil it really can be. Sarah is of average height and weight, with long brown hair and eyes; she is a good student, responsible, and helps her family out in every way she can.

Sarah also ends up meeting Ryan Morris, the new kid in town, and their friendship and witchcraft secrets soon develop into a bit more; he is technically her first boyfriend, but unfortunately, he is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Ultimately, her heart is in the right place, but she lets her circumstances lead her into deep trouble.

Lucifers Angel Character’s: Where Redemption and Darkness Collide!

    Lucifers Angel Character: Ryan Morris
This good-looking young man is new to Paradise, but he has an attraction to the aloof Sarah from the start. He is kind and soft-spoken, with a nature that wants to help those in need or trouble. Ryan also has courage; when he cannot get through to Sarah and get close to her, he is not afraid to go to crazy lengths to get into her life. He, too, is an only child, which makes the situation even more horrible for his parents, who have no idea of the dark things that are actually going on in Paradise.

    Lucifers Angel Character: Emma Holt
Sarah’s maternal grandmother is a beautiful widow who is active in the church, playing piano for the congregation during services and participating in other activities. Sarah is the apple of her eye, and the two are as close as if the girl were her own daughter. Emma is funny and light-hearted, and she has a very strong faith, which she has handed down to her granddaughter over the years.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Lucifers Angel Character: Amelia Hathaway
Sarah’s loving mother is also best friend to her father, Kent, and wonderful wife to him as well. She is another devoted Christian, and she has made it her life’s work to raise her young daughter properly in the faith.

    Lucifers Angel Character: Kent Hathaway
Kent is the strength Sarah’s home. He struggles to make ends meet, working so much that he hardly sees his daughter, but this prompts her to take a job. He loves her very much and is doing the very best he can to look out for her, but he has absolutely no idea what she has gotten herself into. His need to keep things going has blinded him to the changes which have taken place in Sarah; his frequent absence has also given Sarah free reign to delve into the dark arts deeper and deeper.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Lucifers Angel Character: Miriam Bailey
The wife of Pastor Paul Bailey has known Sarah all of her life, and she seems to be one of the great strengths throughout the book. The woman not only handles all the church activities, but she also serves by being there for those in turmoil.

Lucifers Angel Character: Pastor Paul Bailey
The head shepherd of the Paradise Church of Christ is a good man. Paul is not in a lot of scenes, but he begins to piece together some very disturbing facts.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Lucifers Angel Character: Michelle Karas
Michelle has been best friend with Sarah all her life. They do everything together, from church and school to participating in the church softball team. Like Sarah, she has no boyfriend; her love at this time in her life is God. Michelle has her head on straight; she sees things as they are, and she tries to help Sarah do the same.

    Lucifers Angel Character: Laura McCain
Laura is a very interesting character. The 47-year-old church secretary knows something terrible is happening in the small town. Laura is educated and once she understands what is happening, she is Sarah’s most dependable help and support in the fight against evil.

  • Lucifer’s Angel Book Report

    Lucifer’s Angel Book
    Lucifers Angel 0692733280

Lucifer’s Angel by R.W.K. Clark is a mystery suspense novel which relates the story of Sarah Hathaway, a teen from the town of Paradise, who, through a series of tragic events, comes to experience a serious crisis of faith. The only child of religious parents, Sarah has been brought up into the church, and until now has had a firm hold on her beliefs. Unfortunately, her adolescent mind struggles to come to grips with the losses which, to her, seem like grave injustices brought on directly from an uncaring God.

The plot focuses on what Sarah does to deal with her negative emotions and anger toward the God she is angry at. As a way to get back at Him and take back control of her own life, she begins to put her trust in witchcraft by reading books and dabbling in the arts a bit. The problem is, Sarah has no idea what she is doing, or what kind of forces are actually involved with this, and her lack of knowledge gets her into more trouble than she ever could have hoped for. Unbeknownst to her, there are others who practice the craft who are influencing, and somewhat controlling, every bad thing that is happened, and they have done this with a very diabolical purpose.

Lucifer’s Angel: A Tale of Fallen Grace and Fiery Desire!

Paradise is an idyllic small town which is teeming with Christians; their entire lives revolve around the church, although few of the families there are exceptions. Everyone in Sarah’s life is from the church, from her family and the family of her best friend, to the pastor and his wife, her grandmother, and even the mailman. Other main characters in the book include her parents, Amelia and Kent, her grandmother, Emma Holt, Pastor Paul Bailey and his wife Miriam, her best friend, Michelle Karas, and her new love interest, Ryan Morris, the new kid in town. Basically, after losing several of those she cares about the most and turning from the faith, Sarah slowly begins to realize that something horrible is at work, and she races against time with the help of church secretary, Laura McCain, to stop the terrible things that have been put into play.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Some of the best parts of this book actually revolve around witchcraft, though not in a positive way. For instance, after Sarah is bullied, she casts a spell of revenge on her attacker; this is a bit satisfying for the reader. Some of the other spells and scenes are very intense as well, and this makes for very good, satisfying reading. Clark is good at putting in a bit of confusion here and there to keep you turning pages, and he does this well in this book, which is actually one of my favorite things about it; the element of shock and surprise is wonderful.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Lucifer’s Angel: Unveiling the Secrets of Heaven and Hell!

The worst part would be the very end, which I will obviously not break down here. What can be said is that this ending was necessary for RWK Clark to drive the point of the book home. Readers may be disappointed, but I think that when considering the book as a whole, the end also makes the book as good as it really is. It isn’t that the ending is ‘bad’, per se, but it is tragic in an all-around sense, but this is what happens when you play with fire.

I would say that the main lesson of the book is basically not to toy around with things you are ignorant of. Sarah does this for comfort and strength, but her lack of understanding about what she is doing is her undoing. There is also a very painful lesson about others not always being who they appear to be; the things that people will do to other people for personal gain is atrocious, and most of the time this happens at the hands of those we have loved and trusted our entire lives. It is sad and painful, but true, nonetheless, and Sarah suffers terribly for not having a firm grasp on this aspect of reality.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Lucifer’s Angel: The Ultimate Supernatural Showdown!

Another good point that I got out of the pages was that everyone suffers pain and hardship. While all of us must grieve and go through injustice, no one can presume they are so important that they should be the exception to the normal course and circumstances of life. All we can do is steady ourselves and press through. Sarah essentially has an emotional temper tantrum regarding her losses, and turning to witchcraft is how that manifests. Her desire to ‘play God’ in her own life ultimately made the bed of nails that she is forced to lie in, regardless of any change of heart she experiences along the way.

It is hard to choose a ‘favorite’ character from this book. If I had to, I would say it was Sarah, because I understand her pain. But her attitude and reactions to that pain make it difficult to come to terms with the understanding I have for her. Otherwise, this is a story which is full of ‘not knowing who can be trusted’ type scenarios. It is best not to try to pick a favorite.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Lucifer’s Angel: Where Shadows Dance and Destiny Beckons!

RWK Clark has written about witches before in his DeSai Trilogy. This story, however, it is extremely different. There are no vampires running around, and there is no intense apocalypse taking place. This book is much more down to Earth, even bordering on realistic. In this sense, ‘Lucifer’s Angel’ is a superior tale, but only in that way. It stands on its own two feet, demonstrating somber lessons and pain without veering into the unbelievable.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

I would recommend this to any fiction lover. Sarah is a highly relatable character who does, really, what anyone is capable of considering and acting on in her position, and that’s what makes this book so good. For anyone who enjoys a suspense story that will make you think, as well as surprise you from beginning to end, this is the ideal story for you.

Descend into a world where angels bleed and demons yearn.Lucifer’s Angel” offers a thrilling journey through celestial conflict and forbidden love, where the lines between good and evil are irrevocably blurred.

  • Living Legacy Writer’s Commentary

    Living Legacy Among the Dead
    Living Legacy 0692517243

Living Legacy Among the Dead’ is the first complete book I wrote. Though it is a very quick read, I believe readers will get just as much out of its pages as they would if it were a larger novel. It is not written with a heavy moral lesson, though there is one here. Mostly, it was written for the sake of the love story which I have woven into the apocalyptic situation.

Alicia Gaden is a biology major at UCLA; she has her goals lined up and her future planned. She is also a very good student and person; she doesn’t galivant around with different boys or party. Rather, she remains single, and keeps her primary focus on her studies.

Living Legacy: Survival in a World Tainted by Terror!

Jace Booth is pretty much the same type of person as Alicia, with the exception being that he majors in chemistry. The pair meet up when everyone starts changing; people become violent, and their skin begins to pale and rot. For some reason, the two of them seem to survive the strange phenomenon taking place, but together they pursue knowledge regarding why this is happening. As it turns out, there are no two better for the job.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

The book is told from Alicia’s perspective, which is not typical for me. I wanted to convey the zombie outbreak from the female point of view, it really is that simple. It is not something I normally do, but it seems to have worked in this situation, as many readers have commented on it as being a good thing.
Alicia, in the initial pages, is pretty much on her own. Sure, she has a roommate, Lilith, but the girl really doesn’t have much of a purpose, except for the sake of the reality of college life. No, Alicia is witnessing the changes in others entirely on her own. She wants to figure out what is happening and why it doesn’t seem to be happening to her. She meets Jace during a trip to the UCLA student library, which turns out to be a relief because he seems unaffected as well.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Living Legacy: When Water Turns Against Humanity!

Unbeknownst to the two of them. All-Purpose Plastics has been developing the ‘plastic of the future’, Soligel. Unfortunately, they push it through for federal approval. It is only through their own tests and dangerous missions that Alicia and Jace are able to figure out the problem. Once that is pinpointed, they must come up with a way to solve the outbreak before it is too late.

I wanted the main characters to be highly intelligent, but I also wanted them to be as courageous as possible. Let’s face it: and I am sad to say, most college students today would panic and buckle if they found themselves in this situation. If these two are going to survive, and if any love is going to grow between them, it was essential for them to be strong and determined, and to have a mutually beneficial skill set if they wanted to get the job done. These are the main characteristics that were the foundation for Jace Booth and Alicia Gaden.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Now, it is true that I didn’t really deal with the executives of All-Purpose Plastics in a manner that would be satisfying. The fact is, to me, they would be succumbing to the outbreak in their own time and manner. That would be their just deserts. In order for the book to have the combined flavors that I gave it, there was no room for justice, at least, not the kind of justice these people rightfully deserved. Greed and malice are sicknesses of the soul; it was best to let karma deal with them and focus on Alicia and Jace.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

I wanted the relationship between the two of them to be held together by more than sex; my intent with these two was a lifelong commitment, even if there was the possibility that life could end at any second.
I also wanted them to be able to conduct their research in a setting that provided them with some level of peace and comfort. This is where the house comes in. Finding this location was essential to their success; I mean, let’s be real: If a couple of college kids are going to save the day having a comfortable base of operations is essential.

Without giving away the ending, I would just like to say that Alicia and Jace are very crafty, and they have more than enough reasons to accomplish their goal to defeat the zombies and fix the issue successfully. But as we all know, a good story never ends without some kind of lure or suggestion about the real state of things. Perhaps Alicia and Jace firmly believe that they have fixed the problem in the water, but did they really? Only time will tell. I sincerely hope that readers enjoy ‘Living Legacy: Among the Dead’, and appreciate it for the fun piece of fiction it was meant to be.

    Alicia Gaden
There is really no clear physical description given of the main character and narrator, Alicia Gaden. She is beautiful and has long hair, pretty features, and a slender build. Alicia’s strong points include her intelligence and scientific mind. She has a natural curiosity, and her impeccable research skills complement that perfectly.

Living Legacy: A Dystopian Battle for Humanity’s Future!

Alicia is driven, and she puts the majority of her focus on her studies as a biology major at UCLA. She also does not have a steady boyfriend, but she is narrating the book, and the reader can easily pick up on the fact that she is independent and goal-oriented, which seems to explain everything.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Even though she is strong, she is scared, and meeting up with Jace Booth is the best thing that could happen to her. Alicia is also about as human as she can get. When circumstances between her and Jace become very serious indeed, she reacts in her own mind with fear and trepidation, which is how all of us would be in her position.

    Jace Booth
Jace is very attractive, with black hair and blue eyes. He is a student at the university as well, only he is majoring in chemistry. Like Alicia, Jace isn’t dating anyone, and the reasons for this are similar to hers, as well. He is well aware of the situation happening with the zombies, and he is as relieved to meet Alicia as she is to meet up with him.

Jace is immediately attracted to Alicia, and he also feels a strong sense of obligation when it comes to protecting her. As far as being able to contribute to the goal of stopping the zombies, his knowledge of chemistry makes him an indispensable asset; together, they are the ideal match for such a desperate situation. By the time things really come to a head, Jace is ready to get through it and get on with his life, a life he plans to include Alicia Gaden.

Living Legacy: The Fight for a Future Worth Living!

    Jim Richardson
In his late fifties, Jim Richardson has already put in thirty years in the maintenance department at All-Purpose Plastics. Even though he is a tired man, he loves his job. Jim has gained the trust of all the big-wigs of the company because of his loyalty and discretion, and he wouldn’t compromise that for anything. A married man, he also fearfully takes note of the shortness of his temper when it comes to his wife; he has always been soft-spoken, never prone to violent outbursts. The man is so low-key and loyal that he won’t even go to the doctor without speaking to those in charge at work first, and this decision proves to be his demise.

Jim Richardson is the type of character, no matter how short-lived, who believes that he can trust everyone as much as he can be trusted; this shows in the fact that he has maintained such a rigid stance in his company’s favor for as long as he has. They have literally put him at risk every day of his life, and when it finally catches up, they throw him under the bus quickly and easily.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    Mike Sandberg
Dr. Sandberg is the head scientist on the Soligel project for All-Purpose Plastics; he is also the first person Jim Richardson goes to. Mike Sandberg is a scientist, but he is also a compassionate man; he realizes the direness of Jim’s situation right away, but he doesn’t know what to do about it. As per policy, the man ends up dialing the president of the company, who literally takes matters with Jim Richardson into his own hands. Like Jim, it is loyalty on Mike’s part that motivates him to contact the guy at the top first.

    Harvey Mikelson
Harvey is the president and CEO of All-Purpose Plastics, and like all businessmen, his main priority is the bottom line. Harvey is fully aware of the dangers that Soligel poses, but he is more interested in pushing it through government approval and getting rich. His heart is blackened by greed. He is superficial and heartless, just the sort of man you would expect to be running a company and heading a terrible cover-up.

    Lilith
Lilith is Alicia Gaden’s dormmate at UCLA. The two are friends, getting along as girlfriends should. They look out for each other, gab to each other, and generally help each other out when needed. While playing a very short role in this book, Lilith is the catalyst for the studies and research to be conducted by Alicia and Jace.

    Belinda Smythe
Belinda Smythe is not a speaking character at all in these pages; rather, she is just a nobody who happened to own a house out in the middle of nowhere. Belinda’s home and car become lifesaving find for Jace and Alicia, who are in desperate need of safe shelter by the time they stumble upon it. Belinda Smythe gets an honorary character mention.

    Living Legacy Among the Dead
    Living Legacy 0692517243

Living Legacy” throws readers into a chillingly realistic dystopian future where the very essence of life, water, has become a terrifying instrument of transformation.

What would you do if you one day woke up and everyone was turning into a zombie except for you? This is the question posed to UCLA students Alicia Gaden and Jace Booth in the pages of Living Legacy Among the Dead by R.W.K. Clark. Fortunately, this pair is sufficiently equipped to tackle the job.

The main idea of this particular selection is simple: Two educated young people must wing it to not only survive a zombie apocalypse, but to figure out how to stop it as well. Fortunately, their educations help abundantly in this department, not to mention the fact that fate seems to have lined circumstance up for them so their job will be a bit easier. As a work of fiction, this is a mild horror story that is easy on the gore, with a bit of a love story blended in to make it interesting.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

The zombie outbreak takes place as the result of failure on the part of a plastics company in Los Angeles. Toxins are inadvertently released and before anyone knows what’s happening, people are becoming zombies. The two main characters’ responsibility for survival and rectification pretty much falls firmly on their shoulders.

Living Legacy: Hope Blooms in a World of Decay!

The appearance of success is clear throughout the book. With that being said, Clark has a way of keeping things going right at the very end, and this particular tale is no exception. The eternal question he likes to ask is, ‘Is it really over?’

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Alicia Gaden is a biology major who lives on campus at UCLA. Her life is fairly normal: She studies and pays attention to her own plans. Alicia doesn’t have a boyfriend, even finding them to be something of a distraction. She is highly intelligent, and she picks up on the crazy changes going on around her rather quickly, noticing that it isn’t happening overnight.

Jace Booth is majoring in chemistry at the same school. Like Alicia, he is single, but he is very intelligent and good-looking; he could have any girl he wants, but he opts not to. Jace meets Alicia in the library, and after confirming that both of them are still normal, they begin to discuss the crisis going on all around them. Something must be done, or they are going to find themselves getting eaten and joining the masses.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

It is a desperate situation for anyone to find themselves in, much less a couple of college kids. But they are a mature pair who knows how to rely on their strengths. RWK Clark plays this up in the simple, yet plausible and effective, explanation for the outbreak, as well as in the simplicity of the solution. Readers will easily be able to keep up with the story without having to trudge through the boring details of unnecessary technicalities.

The entire story takes place in Los Angeles, either at UCLA or nearby; near the middle of the book, the pair comes upon a deserted house, and it is here they take refuge so they can continue their research. The house takes some of the anxiety off the reader; Alicia and Jace aren’t barricaded in a lab somewhere trying to figure things out while zombies beat down the door. The more relaxed atmosphere of the situation allows the reader to slow down and get a firm grasp on the story. The close proximities of all scene locations also contributes to the ease of reading this selection; you don’t have too much to mentally juggle location-wise.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Then, of course, there is the romantic aspects of this particular title. It would be impossible for two young people Alicia’s and Jace’s ages to work together under such strain without mutual attraction taking place. RWK Clark knows this, and takes advantage of the situation. Yes, the couple fall in love, and there are sex scenes in the book. The scenes which are featured are toned down and tasteful, without graphic descriptions and tasteless vulgarity. Actually, this romance makes the book, in its own way. It gives the reader a break from the seriousness of their situation at just the right times, and the scenes don’t overwhelm due to abundance.

Finally, anyone who is familiar with the works of RWK Clark knows how he loves to add a little twist at the end of his books, leaving them open for anything. ‘Living Legacy’ is also an example of that. Since this is actually the first book Clark put out, this flair should be looked upon as groundbreaking for him, but for those who have read other books by this author first, this is commonplace for RWK Clark.

Bringing us to the end, we know where the lives of Jace and Alicia stand by the final pages. What do those pages hint around about regarding the success of Jace and Alicia’s work and research?

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Ultimately, ‘Living Legacy: Among the Dead’ is another zombie story, but it has its own unique markings here and there, signifying to whom it belongs. It is very easy to keep up with, and it won’t take forever to get through. Because of the simplicity of his writing, the story is enjoyable, and even funny at times. If approached with the right mindset, this first book by RWK Clark should easily open doors for readers to delve further into what he has to offer. It is a creative story with an ending that isn’t all too horrible to stomach.

When the very source of life becomes a weapon, who will survive?Living Legacy” throws you into a world where contaminated water transforms people into monstrous beings. Witness the desperate struggle for survival and the fight to reclaim a future stolen by a poisoned legacy.

Dead on the Water Writer’s Commentary

One Of My Best Selling Fiction Books A Zombie Survival Novel

Dead On The Water has been optioned for a feature film adaptation, Dead In The Water.

This is another zombie story contribution which I put a bit of a spin on. ‘Dead on the Water’ chronicles the story of a Fantasy Lines cruise ship which has a passenger who got bit by a dog during a shopping spree with their parents in Belize. Not knowing that the dog is carrying a terrible, contagious zombie-making virus, the bite-victim re-boards the ship, and it returns to the vast ocean.
The first thing I would like to say about this particular zombie survival book, I allowed them to be able to think, speak, and function, but they are the undead, nevertheless. The leader of the living dead pack, Captain James McElroy, even continues to be the leader in death that he was in life, and his pandemic plan is to take over the entire ship.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Stories That Captivate the World!

I consider this to be one of my best selling fiction books. ‘Dead on the Water’ is my second zombie thriller release. Also, it is the second book I have written that I would classify as sci-fi horror. My first novel in my list of zombie books is ‘Living Legacy’. My third novel would be ‘Permanent Ink’. Be sure to try my zombie book series ‘Zombie Diaries’.

    But here’s the kicker.

This is a fast-paced thriller fiction book; once the action starts, it is pretty much non-stop. Being on a cruise ship, those who are still normal have very limited resources or means of escape. While it is about zombies, and there are several very graphic scenes, I do not believe it is necessarily scary as far as scary horror stories go. I tried to use dialogue in a surreal manner, especially coming from the living dead monsters, in an effort to show the craziness and terrifying truth about the situation, but I didn’t want it to be too heavy. My vision was simply to relate the hopelessness of the plague situation without making the zombie fiction burdensome to read; I wanted it to be on the ‘lighter’ side, if possible.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Now, I presented a couple of different situations in this best selling fiction book

The primary one takes place on the ship; the second is happening at a shady lab in Belize. This lab is sort of an underground operation run by a somewhat ‘mad scientist’ and his assistant, Bruce Ward; the good doctor relocated after the States stopped his experimentation. The long and short of it is that this lab has gone haywire. The CDC tries to gain control of this infectious situation, which is sort of a side-line story to give you, the reader, a bit of hope that this craziness will be contained. I should warn you, especially my new readers.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Your Journey to Literary Escape Starts Here!

I find it difficult to imagine happy endings when it comes to the genres I write in, and I find it much easier to be horribly realistic. But let’s face it, I write about completely unrealistic stuff. What I’m trying to say is, the glory of fiction is in its falseness, but the impact of fiction is found in its painful reality. If a zombie apocalypse illness really happened, would the ending really be a good one? Another reason why this is one of my best selling fiction books.

    Don’t get your hopes up.

Speaking of hope, let’s talk about the CDC battling things on land. If the zombies reach land, there will be a pandemic zombie outbreak, and nothing the CDC is doing in Belize will matter. Someone on that damn boat has to be smart enough to get away and get help. Pretty daunting task, don’t you think? To reach the docking point before the ship, baking in the sun with no water, and having been through a terribly traumatic and unbelievable experience? Well, all I have to say is, you’ll just have to see.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Your Next Literary Obsession Awaits!

    What’s the bottom line?

On another topic, I didn’t get too deep with any of the characters as far as their personal appearance or personalities. There are many characters in ‘Dead on the Water’; only a few hold the limelight, ultimately, it is ‘every man for himself’. So, as far as my second zombie story goes, I hope you enjoy it. It’s a little lighter than you might expect, but it is fast-paced, and you’ll find plenty of gruesome scenes. ‘Dead on the Water’ is an easy and entertaining read. I hope you’ll check out this best selling zombie fiction book, and have fun reading it, too!

Dead on the Water Character Profile

    Ariana Harrington

Ariana is the daughter of Jason and Claire Harrington, and sister to Adam; all four of them are passengers on the Fantasy Line cruise ship on which the zombie outbreak in this novel begins. Ariana is a pretty strawberry blonde girl with smarts and ambition: She wants to be a veterinarian someday due to her deep affection for animals. She is also a good girl, not defiant or demanding, and in this way she differs from her mother and brother; her father is too busy trying to keep up with demands to be an issue.

    Captain James McElroy

This man is the big cheese on the ship, and in the beginning he is suited well for his position. He is a leader with integrity, even having his wife with him on board at all times; as far as his underlings, they all trust and look up to him. Unfortunately, the captain becomes infected with the zombie virus. However, he ends up maintaining much of his mind, though it has changed into something evil with the disease. McElroy winds up devising a pandemic plan that includes not only taking over the ship by turning every last passenger, but making it to land to dock and spreading the illness there as well; a true zombie apocalypse.

    Carl Morgan

Carl Morgan is employed by the CDC as an investigator, and he is sent ahead of the assigned crew to begin the investigation at Dr. Anson’s lab regarding the killer rats. He is a level-headed man who has no idea what he is heading into, but once he realizes its a zombie outbreak, he takes the upper-hand easily and begins to go into action as best he knows how.

    Adam Harrington

Ariana’s brother is something of an entitled brat. He is the coveter of electronics and all things spendy, and he feels that everyone is there to tend to him. He is the type of kid that, if asked to do even the smallest task or favor for another, puts on a big dramatic show, with plenty of whining and complaining. As you will soon read, he is his mother’s child.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Where Imagination Takes Center Stage!

    Claire Harrington

Claire is a privileged woman who was fortunate enough to marry a successful man, but she is nothing more than a taker. She loves all the finer things in life, but most of all, she loves spending money senselessly. Her children are of little concern to her, unless it’s for her own benefit, and if they are not in her hair, she is happy. She is another whiner who believes that everyone owes her something. Best Selling Fiction Books: Uncover the Magic of Storytelling!

    Jason Harrington

The patriarch of the Harrington clan works constantly to provide for his family. But he is exhausted by his ungrateful spouse and son. He only participates in things like the cruise to stop his wife’s incessant nagging, otherwise he could live without all the extravagance that she insists upon. He wouldn’t be too broken up if she wanted a divorce, except that she would play the martyr and take every penny, so he abides. Ariana is his favorite because she is most like him, but he doesn’t realize how tarnished and jaded he has become by life.

    Dr. Jonathan Anson ‘mad scientist’

Dr. Anson is the head of the lab project which has caused the viral outbreak. His lab is sort of an underground operation. The good doctor Anson and his assistant, Bruce Ward relocated after the States stopped his experimentation. The long and short of it is that this lab has gone haywire, and its infected rats are beginning to run rampant.

The good news is that he does have the intelligence to contact the CDC once he realizes the gravity of the situation.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    David Umbridge

David is head of the CDC crew being sent from the US to Belize to battle the viral outbreak. He is a gutsy, level-headed man that is easy to picture as something of a Rambo. Definitely a take-charge and action kind of guy; Umbridge will not hesitate to take extreme measures if he deems them fit.

Best Selling Fiction Books: Experience the Stories Everyone’s Talking About!

    Kim Johnson, Keith Mitchell

This pair complete the CDC crew under Umbridge. Keith has some pathogen and parasite experience, but Kim is brand new, and she was there as sort of a ‘breaking in’ measure. Neither of them have seen anything like the living dead disease they are about to encounter with the rats, and their shock and surprise put them in serious danger at every turn.

Best Selling Fiction Books: The Stories That Define Our Time!

    George Meade

George is the direct assistant to Captain McElroy. He is in the same mess as everyone else on the boat: Under attack. Once he accepts what is happening, this man intends to barricade himself into the bridge area, and stop the zombies from going on shore. Will George make it to the bridge area? Well, you’ll just have to see.

Dead On The Water has been optioned for a feature film adaptation, Dead In The Water.

Dead on the Water by R.W.K. Clark is an ‘off-the-beaten-path’ novel which tells about a passenger ocean liner which inadvertently becomes overrun with zombies, with the captain of the ship leading the pack. The book would be classified as a sci-fi horror. This particular work is the second zombie story Clark has put out, but this zombie book is very different from his first one, ‘Living Legacy’ and his third one ‘Permanent Ink’.

Best Zombie Books: Unleash the Undead Thrills!

A family from the ship docks in Belize for an afternoon of shopping. While on shore, their child is bitten by a infectious dog, but it isn’t until they return to the ship and set off that things go terribly wrong. After the changes which sets off a chain of events that culminate in the ship being infested with the flesh-eaters, and their living dead leader is none other than the captain.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

R.W.K. Clark has written this tale in a manner that has the zombies being able to think things through and plan; the devious captain organizes the others to take over the ship, then they will head to land and do the same. Making this one of his best zombie books yet.

    But here’s the kicker.

Simultaneously, at the lab in Belize where the child was bitten, all of the rats have gone on murderous rampages. They have all been victims of experiments conducted by a mad scientist. Now, his assistant must join forces with the CDC to contain the zombie outbreak in the lab before it manages to escape and the virus spreads out of control.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

‘Dead on the Water’ is a fast-paced and one of the best zombie books that speeds along with action. One of the best things about this author is that he writes in a manner that really keeps things moving, and he effectively tells the story in a way that gets you through its pages in a short amount of time. You will like the realism of the ending, but Clark is famous for this in his writing as well. With him you don’t really have to wonder ‘if’; you simply wonder ‘how’. Another reason why I added this novel to the best zombie books list.

    You might be wondering?

It would be difficult to pinpoint a particular moral lesson in these pages. While this author often weaves some type of educational opportunity into his storylines, those often revolve around deep inner issues. This was a fiction novel written for entertainment purposes. This is a one of those zombie books that you are to sit down with and disappear into without the pressure of introspection. If there is any morsel of a lesson whatsoever, it could come from the Harrington family, four wealthy individuals who live fairly shallow lives, oblivious to anything outside of their own little world. Lesson? Bad things happen to good people.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

    This is crazy.

Dead on the Water’ does not come from a first-person perspective or focus on any one character; in fact, there are too many characters and situations to narrow them down to a main one. The ship and the goings-on on board are probably the main story, but the point is the virus itself; RWK Clark simply chose an isolated cruise ship for his location, and it is effective. The number of characters with actual parts is no problem.

    It gets better.

My favorite character, and I’m a bit embarrassed to admit it, was the zombie leader, Captain James McElroy. Yes, he is an evil, blood-thirsty, and devious character, but that’s precisely why I liked him. He had a vendetta, and the moron zombies around him needed some guidance.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

This made the book fun; it wasn’t the everyday story of the undead. It is important to mention that this was a man of integrity and leadership in the beginning of the story, though we don’t really get to know him that well. But the point is, I believe, that this is what happens when someone turns into a zombie; it changes them through and through. This makes it one of the best zombie books.

    What’s the bottom line?

In comparison to his other works, I will stick with holding it up to his previous zombie offering, ‘Living Legacy: Among the Dead’. The first was a bit more on the somber side in feel; there was a grave situation at hand with a zombie outbreak, and there were two college-kid heroes racing against the clock to stop it. ‘Dead on the Water’, in contrast, does focus on one hero.

RWK Clark teases readers here and there by giving them hope that this one or that will eventually save the day, but the day stays pretty dark throughout. Even though both of them feature the ‘open-ended twist’ that is what RWK Clark is famous for, they are much different in nature, and both give the reader a vary emotional tug.

    Zombie fiction book recommendations.

I would recommend ‘Dead on the Water’ for an entertaining reading experienced that is light, easy to keep up with, and won’t take forever to complete. This is of the best zombie books that you should definitely check out for any zombie apocalypse or horror fiction fan.

  • Blood Feather Awakens Writers Commentary

Blood Feather Awakens By RWK Clark
Blood Feather Awakens By RWK Clark

Of the books I have penned, ‘Blood Feather Awakens’ was one of the most fun for me. It tells the story of Sam Daniels, a wildlife photographer who, while on assignment in the Amazon jungle, encounters a breathtakingly beautiful, but horribly deadly, prehistoric bird. Sam manages to snap a couple of grainy photographs, which he takes to an ornithologist at the University of Washington for identification. That is just the beginning of the tale; Sam and Dr. Kate Beck, accompanied by three guides and tailed by a couple of fame-seeking paleontologists, venture back to the jungle to find, and hopefully capture, the murderous creature.

Why was this book so much fun to write? I would have to attribute it simply to the imagination involved in it. I found it was a subject I could really do anything with, if I so chose. I wanted to make the time in the jungle both horrifying, thanks to the evasive bird, and romantic, due to the blossoming romance between Kate and Sam. I also wanted it to be bloody, because let’s face it: If a massive prehistoric bird were to attack, well, it would be nothing but bloody.

Blood Feather: Where Ancient Terror Takes Flight!

I also thrived on creating realistic relationships between all of the people. For instance, even though Sam and Kate are in the company of jungle guides, all of them are in this terrible situation together. It was imperative that they talk and laugh, that they come to trust and depend on each other in a way that simply would not take place on a normal jungle tour. Everyone is frightened, but they are also eager.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

But then we have the two paleontologists, Dr. Harold Kreiger and Dr. Roy Hastings. These two men work at the University of Washington, just as Kate does. Since they are colleagues of hers, she takes Sam to see them when he brings her the photograph of the bird and recognizes it as ‘prehistoric’ in nature. But, just as she fears, these two begin to see how beating Kate and Sam to the punch will make them famous.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

Now, before going any further, I must inform readers that it was never meant to be a sugar-coated piece of fiction. I wanted the truth about how dangerous this thing was in my own mind to be clearly conveyed; this bird can think, reason, and use logic. The humans which pursue it may outsmart it and capture it, but all it needs is a little time to sort things out and find a way to appease its own bloodthirsty nature. This thing was never meant to be captured; after all, it survived a meteor hitting the Earth millions of years ago, and it has managed to continue its species for the sole reason that ‘life will find a way’. The determination shown to simply survive needed to clearly reflect its ability to destroy, as well. I believe that I portrayed all of this clearly and concisely, especially at the very end.

So, what is ‘Blood Feather’? To put it simply, the creature is, indeed, a bird, but it is prehistoric, related to the ‘archaeopteryx’ but much larger. I did nothing more than to create my own creature, in my own mind. Some of its physical traits are the same, some are different. This is the reason Kate and the paleontologists are uncertain of what it is: They are stuck with an assumed picture in their overly-educated minds.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

But exactly what Blood Feather is, is not important. The bottom line is that it’s a killer. It lives on flesh and blood, and it gets pleasure from the hunt and chase. It is airborne, so there really is no escape, and it has the ability to somewhat hypnotize its prey with its eerily human eyes. It is meant to confuse and terrify, which is precisely what I designed it for. Its beauty is deceptive; it will lure you in and then end your life. To be honest, this was the most fun for me: Writing about presumptuous humans who are scrambling around out of their element, trying to get the best of nature’s perfect killing machine.

    –↓–“A word from our sponsor”–↓– –↑–“Ads made this possible”–↑–

I truly hope readers are as entertained by this story as I was by writing it. I tried to keep it light and simple without compromising fear or blood. I also wanted to tell a story that would keep the reader turning pages by avoiding long, drawn out descriptions or droning, pointless fluff. I think that those who read this fun, frightening story will appreciate it, in the end, for what I intended it to be.

A prehistoric terror lurks in the Amazon. Are you brave enough to follow the trail?Blood Feather” delivers a thrilling blend of science fiction and suspense, where an ancient predator challenges the boundaries of human understanding.
